Review of Steptoe And Son / Steptoe And Son Ride Again DVD by
grafter123
Advantages: Classic British Comedy, good cast, funny in parts
Disadvantages: Dated, not as good as the series
STEPTOE AND SON THE SERIES.
Steptoe and Son was a British Comedy series which came to our television screens way back in 1962. It was written by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, initially as a comedy playhouse special, and was destined to become classic, British, comedy entertainment. Early episodes were filmed in Black and White which seemed so very fitting. It helped to portray the dinginess of the Steptoe household and their day to day life perfectly. ... ...as a boxed set.
STEPTOE AND SON
Steptoe and Son was originally released in 1972. Young Harold never seems to be able to keep a girlfriend. If things are going well for him his father will soon put a spanner in the works. So when Harold seems to attract a very attractive young woman during a night out things are destined to be anything but smooth. It turns out that the lovely Zita is actually the football clubs evening entertainment as she ...

A bit of a damp squib
Review of That Riviera Touch DVD by
grafter123
Advantages: Eric and Ernie, some funny moments.
Disadvantages: Very dated, average British 1960s comedy
...for the big screen and That Riviera Touch was one of these films. Eric had heart problems in middle age and died whilst performing on stage on 28th May 1984 at the age of 58. Ernie carried on his career in comedy with appearances on chat shows and quiz programmes but, as the straight man of the comedy duo, never quite succeeded after Eric's death. Despite this the public still enjoyed seeing him on television and he died on March 21st, 1999, at the ... ...become classic, British comedy.
THAT RIVIERA TOUCH.
I remember watching this film back in the sixties and seventies and enjoying it. So much so that seeing it advertised for Saturday afternoon TV I thought I would put my feet up and give it a whirl. Well I do not know if it is just that my taste and the times have changed, or what, but it was certainly a silly film and not really very funny at all.
The film was released in 1966 and starts with ...

It's Official Sex Is Fashionable Again
Review of Gettin' It DVD by
sghawken
Advantages: The return of the sex comedy
Disadvantages: Very low budget
If your one of those people that won't watch anything other than big blockbuster movies then Gettin It is certainly not for you, however if you're a bit more open minded, enjoyed the humour of American Pie, Porky's or The Lemon Popsicle movies then this 2006 sex comedy is a must. Gettin it is low budget, filmed with handheld cameras, and looks decidedly cheap. But what Gettin It marks isa resurgence of the sex comedy so popular during the 70's and ... ...be seeing a lot more like it.
Silver is a normal kid, he works in his mum and dad's takeaway pizza joint as a delivery boy; he is nothing special and quite withdrawn. Slightly unbelievably this rather nerdy kid has a stunning girlfriend called Sheila who wants to wait for the time to be right to have sex; I'll leave you to decide which part I find unbelievable. Silver however wants sex more than anything, after all his friends are all having sex, ...

Top class movie
Review of Office Space DVD by
Cosmo_Kramer
Advantages: Great humour
Disadvantages: Might not appeal to you if you havent worked in an office
Office Space is an instant classic for any office workers out there.
Office Space follows the life of Peter (Ron Livingstone) a tired and bored office employee working for Initech, under control of the worst boss known to man, Bill Lumbergh (fantastically played by Gary Cole). Lumbergh is everyone who has ever worked in a office's worst nightmare. Full of smarm and fake sincerity. His 'mkay' will haunt your dreams for years to come.
The main story ... ...The main backbone of Office Space is the relationship between the 3 main 'heroes' of Office Space, Peter, and his friends Michael Bolton (a put upon David Herman) who goes mental at the slightest comparison between himself and the real michael bolton, and also Samir who is constantly frustrated that no one can say his second name.
The movie basically covers what it's like to work in an office on a day to day basis and will appeal to anyone who is ...
