Laurel & Hardy, Laughs above the rest.
Advantages: Funny, clean humour that stands the test of time. Disadvantages: Absolutely none!
...it where it belongs.
Laurel & Hardy despite their lack of the above mentioned "humour" have managed to do something that only modern comedians can dream about. They kept the world laughing consistently for years and have continued to do so 60 years after their deaths. I don't know any modern "great" that I'd remember and still be talking about in a year if he disappeared today. There is one exception and I just did a review on that yesterday, but ... ...a nice box with the Laurel & Hardy logo and a pic of the happy two on the top & sides. Opening the box you are presented with a row of real DVD disc boxes, not the usual cardboard or pocket type rubbish. Each disc spine has the part of a picture that makes up the duo's bowler hats when stacked together. The discs are numbered 1-21 with the last one having a title "A special tribute to the boys" along with other comedy shorts.
Please note that the ...

Funny no tears formula
Advantages: Non offensive comedy style, intelligent comedian, Michael is warm to the audience and so you relax Disadvantages: None
I first saw Michael McIntyre on a variety performance when flicking channels and was to be honest not a fan but after seeing him on Mock the Week and feeling that he has developed his style of comedy I decided to give this dvd a shot and was not disappointed.
Michael McIntyre is an extremely intelligent comedian who always delivers his style of humour in a way which should make you feel like you are being spoken down to by him but it actually feels ... ...he is.
I love watching Michael work as he is not scared to laugh at his own jokes and I was very impressed by his audience interraction which I have seen a lack of with some comedians but he has worked hard on his set and is now certainly at the top of his game.
The dvd will deliver laughs and intelligent comedy and you will not walk away feeling like somebody has just stood swearing at you and insulting your inteligence but will infact walk away ...

Good films, good price
Advantages: A good Comdey Disadvantages: Can seem to last a bit to long
When I thought of the Pink Panther, I did not actually think of these films, I honestly thought of the little cartoon based on the films which are also featured in this DVD boxset, the films themselves are classics and are decent in their own right. The first 2 films in the set are the best of the lot, while the rest of them just seem to be a bit long winded and they start to loose a bit of the apeal.
They are still a great comedy to watch and I ... ...with a bit of time between them otherwise you can get a bit bored.
I was deffinatly glad that it included the wonderful cartoons that I remembered from my childhood, they were as brillent as I remebered and I probably would have bought a DVD with just them on. ...

Black Books - a bit addictive
Advantages: Brilliant writing, surreal plots. Genius moments. Disadvantages: Tempting to watch the eps back to back until you're exhausted
Bernard Black is a very nasty man. He's rude, drunk, dirty and very very selfish. But ultimately endearing and attractive, in a byronic sort of way. Fortunately the other two characters are strong enough to offset him, turning what might have been episodes of smart-arsed posturing into a genuine ensemble piece. Fran (Tasmin Greig) is almost equally unpleasant but still possesses enough moral sense to act as Bernard's conscience. Manny (Bill Bailey) ... ...love these characters we can see why no-one else does, which makes the slightly claustrophic format work all the better. My personal opinion is that the first series, written by Dylan Moran with Graham LIneham, is the strongest of the three. An extra bonus is playing spot the celeb as this is quite an old programme and a number of today's 'stars' have tiny roles. Eg David Walliams is on screen for a matter of seconds. ...

Peter Kay.Live at the Bolton Albert Halls
Advantages: Great laughs throughout Disadvantages: ???
...that any extra scenes from Peter Kay would have been hilarious.
Peters main style consists of making jokes about the everyday things that we do.
For example the 'Walking to the Dance Floor Dance',which im afraid the majority of us have probably done, and being at Weddings and family occasions, where a whole host of strange relatives come out of the woodwork!
Kay starts the DVD off,by getting a Taxi with Boltons famous Taxi Driver:Mr Bee.
Mr Bee ... ...about missing the show.
Then Peter says something funny,if I remember correctly, like:'How can you miss the show when your sharing a Taxi with the comedian your off to see?!'
These women are achully from Coronation street,in the name of Barmaids,Gina and Shelley.
Kays jokes keep coming thick and fast and guarantee a laugh everytime.
He not only does jokes, but incorporates singing songs that we all recognise, but by changing the words,he also demonstrates ...
