It's four-six; we're out dogged.

Advantages: Inoffensive family film
Disadvantages: Dodgy storyline

...hotel. They turn the hotel into a hotel for dogs, where no canine is turned away. With the help of a few other youngsters in the area (Dave, Heather and Mark), they start to collect up all the strays in the area. Of course the dogs don’t stay quiet and soon the neighbours and the local pound start to wonder what is happening in the hotel. Cast Emma Roberts plays Andi Jake T. ...Mark Lisa Kudrow plays Lois Scudder (the foster mother) So no big named actors here, the two main actors are well known on the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon with Emma starring in Unfabulous and Drake and Josh, whilst Jake stars in Wizards of Waverly Place and is the voice of Diego (Dora the Explorers cousin). Probably the most famous person in the cast is Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe in Friends. My Thoughts I wasn’t particularly impressed, ...

Definitely UPlifting

Advantages: More Pixar magic that doesn't disappoint
Disadvantages: Elements of realism detract from the escapist atmosphere

...be honest the trailers for up and coming 3D films had far more memorable in-your-face 3D effects than “Up” did (eg. a snowflake appearing to float in front of the screen). In keeping with the Pixar tradition, there is a short film before “Up” called “Partly Cloudy” showing the relationship between a long-suffering, loyal stork and his oddball cloud companion. Without wanting to spoil “Up” the basic plotline involves a chance meeting between grouchy ...
...along with him. They end up landing in South America and experience humorous encounters there with talking dogs and an emu-like bird. Carl (voiced by Edward Asner) has a hilariously over the top, square face with matching square glasses designed to reflect his closed personality. His irritation at Russell’s youthful exuberance is captured well with several comical one-liners. Yet we do feel sympathy for Carl when we find out what he has gone through ...

The wedding of the year 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'

Advantages: Fun, nice story
Disadvantages: Predictable

I first watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding a few years ago and although it hasn't become one of my favourite films, I do still watch it from time to time. The film first came out in 2002 so has been around for quite a while now. The story of the film is based around a character called Toula Portokalos (Christina Eleusiniotis). Toula is from a greek family, who take the traditions of their culture very seriously. Her family own a resteraunt called 'Dancing ...
...her thirties and yet has never really done anything with her life. She is plain and no-one really notices her as she goes around her everyday life. One day Toula decides to do something about her life and signs up to a college course. It isn't easy for her to persuade her Father Gus (Michael Constantine), but her Mother Maria (Lainie Kazan) manages to help her. Once she has started the course she starts to feel more confident in herself and decides ...

Offender of the Universe

Advantages: sick slick rapid succession of one line jokes
Disadvantages: turns the air blue, plenty of bad language, not for the easily offended

Jimmy Carr is the Marmite of Comedy, you either love him or hate him, there’s not really much in between. On the UK comedy scene for the past 10 years, he has become more and more known over the past few years, in particular as host of comedy quiz ‘8 out of 10 cats’ and voice of many a Channel 4 ‘Top 100 shows’. Carr himself was voted number 12 in the ‘Top 100 Comedians’. Personally I love Jimmy Carr. Then again, I love a lot of the modern comedians, ...
...over the past decade. Jimmy Carr Telling Jokes is his latest DVD release. There are four previous releases of his stage show, all recorded at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London over time from 2005 until this year. One of Jimmy Carr’s previous DVDs opens with a warning: “This show is not for the easily offended, this is not even for those difficult to offend, this show is for people without moral compass.” Not only is this true for the DVD is was on, ...
