You're my exception.....
Advantages: Funny and lighthearted, pokes fun at itself, good acting Disadvantages: Nothing special
Oh, blimey! I've read a couple of reviews of this film, and each time I have imagined the most twisted and convoluted series of character links ever in a film. Indeed, this confusion does transfer over onto the screen for a while, before the intersecting plotlines cross bit by bit and make you realise that the 'who' isn't as important as the 'what'.
Essentially, this is utter romcom, dissecting relationships and reading signs, particularly those ... ...stereotypes we associate with typical relationships, people's attempts to get into them, people's attempts to get out of them, and everything in between.
I'm not about to make an attempt to enlighten you to the vast cast list of recognisable names, nor give you the entire character groupings on each subplot and how they are all interlinked by this person who works with that person, who's in a relationship with this person, who goes to this class ...

Rocking boat
Advantages: Great story and music Disadvantages: none
The Boat That Rocked focuses on a pirate radio ship, called Radio Rock, broadcasting to the teenagers of the sixties. They are a motley band of disc jockeys that go against the wishes of a British government determined to silence them. The boss of Radio Rock, Quentin, has to ensure rating for his station whilst avoid the might of the government officials, led by Minister Dormandy.
Radio rock has a selection of colourful disc jockeys, including The ... ...even a lesbian cook, Felicity. The arrival of Quentin’s godson, Carl, leads to the DJ’s to turn Carl into a man through a number of funny exploits. However the Count’s position as top DJ at Radio Rock are tested when the famous king of the airwaves, Gavin returns from his tour of America.
This is another hit film from Curtis, as he mixes humour, music and a touch of romance in a beautiful story. The cast is littered with great actors, as you can ...

When you get up in the morning I'll be there for you
Advantages: touching Disadvantages: predictable
Ghosts of Girlfriends Past is a romantic comedy which was based on Charles Dickens’ novella Christmas Carol. The film was released on 1st May 2009. It was directed by Mark Waters. He directed Freaky Friday, Just Like Heaven and The Spiderwick Chronicles. The screenplay was written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. The running time is 100 minutes and the classification is 12 years and over. For the films official site visit: www.ghostsofgirlfriendspastmovie.com ... ...he will meet three other ghosts tonight and his life will change. He really meets the Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Present and Future. Can Connor change? My opinion --------------- I know it is a shame but I admit that I haven’t read Dickens’ Christmas Carol before. Despite this fact I say that the story was predictable. I loved it as there were some twists in it and there were funny and tear jerker plots as well which kept me engaged from the beginning ...

Brilliantly funny - but not for the faint hearted
Advantages: Brilliantly funny, topical storyline Disadvantages: Not for the faint hearted, swearing can be a bit tasteless at times
In The Loop is the story of the US and the UK and their plans to go to war in the Middle East (ring any bells?), with one government minister putting his foot in it at all times. The brilliant Malcolm Tucker is always on top of the game, though, and through his masterfully-chosen and beautifully-timed outbursts of expletives, delivers some of the funniest, most intelligent crude lines ever to be seen on the big screen. To me it is obvious that, although ... ...I'd rather have on side in a crisis. Tucker is a no-nonsense, bull-in-a-china-shop fixer, and is feared by all who meet him. This film brings the best performance out of Peter Capaldi, and shows Armando Iannucci at his best. Fantastic editing, beautiful shots and hilarious, well-timed lines, along with an almost-as-good sub-story running alongside, make this film a must see. ...

Classically Funny Bro-mantic comedy
Advantages: funny, well scripted, well acted Disadvantages: A little slow to get going
Last night my wife and I sat down to watch this. The blurb described it as a “Bro-mance” it could equally be called a “Bro-Com”. The premise is simple. Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) is an awkward friendless man, who has just proposed to the love of his life. As such he needs a best man. Having over the years had a succession of girlfriends, whom he apparently concentrated on and thus lost out on male friends, he now finds himself in a pickle. We follow ... ...comedy after all. I have to say I felt good about the film. That wasn’t just the wine talking either. It was a good fun film, awkward and cringe worthy in places, but mostly classy and hilarious. Paul Rudd is a good actor and he pulls off the role well and you could easily believe he has no friends. Jason Segel is equally good and their on screen chemistry is believable and moving. It was far more enjoyable for me (as a man) to watch than your average ...
