...he will meet three other ghosts tonight and his life will change. He really meets the Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Present and Future. Can Connor change? My opinion --------------- I know it is a shame but I admit that I haven’t read Dickens’ Christmas Carol before. Despite this fact I say that the story was predictable. I loved it as there were some twists in it and there were funny and tear jerker plots as well which kept me engaged from the beginning ...

Brilliantly funny - but not for the faint hearted

Advantages: Brilliantly funny, topical storyline
Disadvantages: Not for the faint hearted, swearing can be a bit tasteless at times

In The Loop is the story of the US and the UK and their plans to go to war in the Middle East (ring any bells?), with one government minister putting his foot in it at all times. The brilliant Malcolm Tucker is always on top of the game, though, and through his masterfully-chosen and beautifully-timed outbursts of expletives, delivers some of the funniest, most intelligent crude lines ever to be seen on the big screen. To me it is obvious that, although ...
...I'd rather have on side in a crisis. Tucker is a no-nonsense, bull-in-a-china-shop fixer, and is feared by all who meet him. This film brings the best performance out of Peter Capaldi, and shows Armando Iannucci at his best. Fantastic editing, beautiful shots and hilarious, well-timed lines, along with an almost-as-good sub-story running alongside, make this film a must see. ...

Classically Funny Bro-mantic comedy

Advantages: funny, well scripted, well acted
Disadvantages: A little slow to get going

Last night my wife and I sat down to watch this. The blurb described it as a “Bro-mance” it could equally be called a “Bro-Com”. The premise is simple. Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) is an awkward friendless man, who has just proposed to the love of his life. As such he needs a best man. Having over the years had a succession of girlfriends, whom he apparently concentrated on and thus lost out on male friends, he now finds himself in a pickle. We follow ...
...comedy after all. I have to say I felt good about the film. That wasn’t just the wine talking either. It was a good fun film, awkward and cringe worthy in places, but mostly classy and hilarious. Paul Rudd is a good actor and he pulls off the role well and you could easily believe he has no friends. Jason Segel is equally good and their on screen chemistry is believable and moving. It was far more enjoyable for me (as a man) to watch than your average ...

It's four-six; we're out dogged.

Advantages: Inoffensive family film
Disadvantages: Dodgy storyline

...hotel. They turn the hotel into a hotel for dogs, where no canine is turned away. With the help of a few other youngsters in the area (Dave, Heather and Mark), they start to collect up all the strays in the area. Of course the dogs don’t stay quiet and soon the neighbours and the local pound start to wonder what is happening in the hotel. Cast Emma Roberts plays Andi Jake T. Austin plays Bruce Don Cheadle plays Bernie Johnny Simmons plays ...
...Mark Lisa Kudrow plays Lois Scudder (the foster mother) So no big named actors here, the two main actors are well known on the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon with Emma starring in Unfabulous and Drake and Josh, whilst Jake stars in Wizards of Waverly Place and is the voice of Diego (Dora the Explorers cousin). Probably the most famous person in the cast is Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe in Friends. My Thoughts I wasn’t particularly impressed, ...

A Charming Yarn

Advantages: Enjoyable gentle comedy
Disadvantages: Weak script

New in Town is a film starring Renee Zelwegger as a corporate honcho who heads to a small Minnesota town to gradually shut down their main income, a foodstuff factory, which while insignificant to the company which has newly aquired it, is of vital importance to the local community's survival. . I am surprised to say I enjoyed this film. It received pretty mixed to dire reviews but I still couldn't help but rent it – Renee Zelwegger is always good ...
...was diabolical in that. And Harry Connick Jr., well I admit I loved his retro Sinatra act long before the Bubles and Cullem's of the world tried to ape it so poorly. Harry is dreamy! And he is a pretty good actor to boot. Is this film formulaic? You betcha, as Sarah Palin would say. It does however have a few unique charms which elevated it for me beyond the insufferable dirge of a Matthew McConaghy or the girl from Grey's Anatomy chick flicks of ...
