Advantages: surperb acting
Disadvantages: alot of the good characters pushed into subplots

I was amazed when I first saw this film, it is a wonderful film to get lost in and I was surprised I hadn't heard of it before. I am a great Lee Evans fan and so searched out this dvd and was surprised at what a great story it had. As said it the other review the premous of the story is simple, two totally different comics teach each other about comedy, but you also have the sub plots of stolen eggs, dead frenchmen and a search for eternal youth. ...
...unlikely place of Blackpool and done so with great effect. I can't think of anywhere else it could be based. The acting is wonderful but they all seem a little eclipsed by Evans who's character seems to shine through. I imagine he was given free reign in some scenes as the other actors seem surprised at some things he does and don't seem to know how to react. Bottom has got to be THE BEST TV series Ever! and now the live performances cannot be held back by the tame BBC. The Duo of of idiotic dole scroungers are lead from preparing for the Queen Heading down Hammersmith to being put in prison with the fear of Jefferey the psychopathic penis remover and Mr. Big! What will they do: Prepare to meet the queen like normal people, or end up fighting each other, ,teaching the vicar's parrot to swear, will Edward ...
...The thing with the Whole bottom idea seems to be that, Rik Mayall (Richard Richard) and Ade Edmondson (Eddie hitler) wrote all there previous material, and bottom seemed to be there more adventurous attempt of testing the limits of the BBC with a lot of Swearing And a whole lot of Double-entendres and Sex References, so may not be up to everyone's opinion of good telly. Big forehead Reese Witherspoon plays (implausibly) a workaholic doctor who seems to retain her Barbie-like prettiness despite working without sleep. Just Friends came out in December of 2005 and just barely flew under the radar. It is quite a shame, considering that this movie, more than any other, demonstrates the talent that Ryan Reynolds has at doing what he does best: being a complete jerk.
