Woody's Greek Goddess
Review of Mighty Aphrodite DVD by allmodcons

Advantages: Very Funny, Mira Sorvino is Excellent
Disadvantages: The whole Greek chorus thing

...so here’s the latest… Mighty Aphrodite is an identity–based comedy from Woody Allen, where a man goes in search of his adopted son’s natural parents, and sets in motion an unexpected chain of events as a consequence. Lenny (Allen) is a sports writer married to Amanda (Helena Bonham-Carter), and they decide to adopt a child. As the child grows, he shows signs of exceptional ability and intelligence, and this leads Lenny to embark on a search to ...
...able to track the mother, who it turns out is a prostitute and adult film star, and the father is a mystery. Linda, the natural mother, is played by Mira Sorvino, who puts in a powerhouse performance, something of a trademark for Allen’s leading ladies. Actually, she won an Oscar for best supporting actress as the damaged and dim Linda, who attempts to tough it through life with disarming honesty and naivety while covering up her hidden heartbreak ... Bean and gone!
Review of Mr Bean's Holiday DVD by beanie8844

Advantages: mildly funny at times
Disadvantages: quite irritating and repetitive humour

...had seen some of the Mr Bean sketches as a youngster and at the time rather enjoyed them; as a consequence I was expecting the film to be at the very least entertaining, how wrong I could have been. The film opens with Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson) winning the first prize in a raffle, which entitles him to a holiday to Cannes on the French Riviera. His journey to Cannes is nothing short of utter chaos and confusion. Firstly, he manages to somehow get ...
...acting because the character of Mr Bean seems to have reached its limit. Kids may enjoy this film, but this is the only real reason for purchasing the DVD. Released: 30th March 2007 (film), 20th August 2007 (DVD) Certificate: PG Cast: Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean), Emma de Cannes (Sabine), Willem Dafoe (Carson Clay), Karel Roden (Emil Dachevsky), Max Baldry (Stepan Dachevsky), Preston Nyman (boy with train), Director: Steve Bendelack Producers: Peter ... Beetlejuice
Review of Beetlejuice DVD by blissman70

Advantages: Good comedy and an entertaining movie
Disadvantages: none really

...The Maithlands must stop Beetlejuice from harming the Deetzes before someone gets killed….again….??? And there's only one way to rid the world of such an arrogant ghost….. **IN CONCLUSION** This one is a little difficult to get to grips with, it tries to be a little scary in a comical way, with the image of Beetlejuice emerging being the scariest thing in the movie. The story is pretty well written and the acting isn't to bad either. The special ...
...like something out of the 1970's 'B' movie era when you see the badly laid out dodgy cut outs and corrugated cardboard scenery, but as this was deliberately made this way for the movie then it does add to the comical aspect. What can you say about the actors themselves…? Well they all played their parts well, Alec Baldwin and the gorgeous Geena Davis as the ghostly couple who just can't get the hang of haunting and scaring people… But you will ... Read review
