Only fools dont buy this
Review of Only Fools And Horses - Miami Twice DVD by twelvespike

Advantages: Hilarious, as is every episode
Disadvantages: None

Only Fools and Horses (1981-2003) It's so hard just to write a review on a single episode, be it a feature length film. Miami Twice, The title comes from "Miami Vice." John Sullivan (the legend behind it all) did this in a few other episodes too. Miama Twice: Del and Raquel chrisen "the chavvy." (Micky Pearce babysits) Rodders (on Dels "brilliant" advice) gets tickets to miami, but when cassy cant go, he doesnt want to go. So Del "gives himself ...
...a must have for your only fools collection, or if it is going to be your first Only fools DVD, i guarrenttee it will not be your last. Literally a laugh a minute, this stuff is funny and never seems to get old, no matter how many times you watch it. And believe me, i speak from experience!! You might see this an me just "bigging up" only fools, but it is fantastic comedy of the highest quality. And although this episode was made in 1991, it is ... Read review

Lenny tries to crack the US
Review of True Identity DVD by Mel27

Advantages: Lenny Henry is quite good
Disadvantages: Not as funny as it could have been

It's hard to believe this film is 14 years old but it is! I'm not a fan of Lenny Henry much but I do quite like this comedy. The film has a rather complicated plot but here's the main story. Basically, Miles Pope (Lenny Henry) is an actor who really wants to be doing well on the stage but finds himself entwined with the mob after finding out his producer Leland Carver (Frank Langella) has a criminal past. As part of his protection, he pretends to ...
...dons the make up and becomes an older white man. Not quite the acting he had in mind! The plot is based on an Eddie Murphy Saturday Night Live sketch and Lenny takes the part Eddie Murphy played earlier. There is a little bit of violence in this film - guns for instance - but not too much. Of course there's also swearing. There isn't any "gross out" humour here, I'm pleased to say but there is quite an uncomforable moment where Miles takes on the ... Read review

Taming of the Goat Boy
Review of Bill Hicks - One Night Stand DVD by Frankingsteins

Advantages: Classic routines captured on film.
Disadvantages: Recycling of material, and no room for improvisation.

...a short half-hour set of Bill Hicks' current 'greatest hits' up to that point, or at least feels like it. There's a natural progression between the three general subjects he deals with: smoking, drugs and pornography, all discussed under the larger idea of government control and stupidity when it comes to banning and promoting 'evil,' but despite the strength of this political material, the whole performance seems to lack the energy, spontaneity ...
...this performance capturing the archetypal Bill Hicks show, as is the case for many other stand-up videos. A book was released a few years ago that printed up transcripts of Hicks' numerous live shows and watching this video almost feels like reading the flatter material on the page when compared to some of his looser and more energetic gigs, but at the same time this won't present a problem for newcomers to this late comedian who will still be seeing ...
