Carry On Emmanuelle
Review of Carry On Emmanuelle (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by
sindy123
Advantages: If you like the Saucy harmless Comedy this is for you
Disadvantages: Unfortunately very few of the regular team were in this.
...among the last of the Carry On films is one of the best. Basically a comedic send up of the Sylvia Kristell Emmanuelle films. Williams is hilarious as the French ambasador as is Suzanne Danielle who plays his wife she will sleep with anything that moves.
Classic performances from Joan Sims, Peter Butterworth and Kenneth Connor as the randy Chauffer Leyland.
Jack Douglas absolutely brilliant as the butler Lions who Suzanne Daniels affectionately ...

Thankfully not very many mothers 'ave 'em
Review of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em - The Complete Second Series DVD by
SScott764
Advantages: Good clean comedy
Disadvantages: Too much Frank at times
Some mothers do 'ave 'em is a British comedy that was first transmitted between 1973 and 1975 on BBC 1. Only 3 series of the comedy were made but with the many reruns of these series on TV the program has become well known to people of all ages and the star of the show, Frank Spencer (Michael Crawford - a pre-phantom version), has become a celebrity in his own right.
The two main characters, Frank Spencer and his wife Betty (Michelle Dotrice) tell ... ...him off the premises. Some Public Relations that is.
Frank and Marvin - In another attempt to try and get himself a job Frank tries to become a bluecoat. He starts off with a ventriloquist act featuring his interesting looking friend, Marvin the Monkey. This then leads to one very unique rendition of 'Early One Morning' and then to finish off the whole audition we see a firework display - from a most unexpected place.
Father's Clinic - To prepare ...

Some mothers do 'ave 'em
Review of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em - The Complete Collection (Box Set) by
giantpanda21
Advantages: Funny
Disadvantages: none
This is a great comedy all about Frank Spencers (Michael Crawford) life. Frank has a wife called Betty and soon has a baby girl called Jessica.
Frank is always trying to do DIY jobs around the house and is always bogging it up which is really funny. Frank is also unemployed and trys all these different jobs like joining the army and working in a warehouse with his neighbour and it all goes terribly wrong as you would expect from Frank.
Franks neighbours ... ...one episode he actually moves house and as soon as he has moved his old house falls down.
While betty is pregnant with her baby girl frank is always round at the doctors making sure that everything is going to be alright with the baby and it starts to annoy the doctor.
This a great comedy it is always making me laugh when i watch it. I love the way Michael Crawford plays Frank spencer and the way he can always make you laugh ...

The Silver Carry On
Review of Carry On Girls (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by
IanPhillips
Advantages: A great and classic entry
Disadvantages: None as such
Carry On Girls (1973) was the 25th entry in this staggeringly long-running British comedy film series. The Carry On films were beginning to slide in popularity at this stage of the game. At one point at least three Carry On films were made per year. However by 1972 the productions of the Carry On had slowed down to just once a year, a sure sign that the end was not far off. But as the wonderful Carry On Girls (1973) went to prove, there was life ... ...his drunken antics on the Carry On Abroad set and after continual disagreements with producer, Peter Rogers over wanting his name elevated above the title which no Carry On star was ever rewarded), Kenneth Williams and the formidable Hattie Jaques are all sadly missed from this entry. There is surprisingly enough fun, laughter and games to enjoy throughout in Carry On Girls (1973) and the main regular Carry On stars in the series that are present ...

Not about bees, is it?
Review of The Sting DVD by
l-m-n-o-p
Advantages: Brilliant twists, fantastic acting
Disadvantages: Slightly long, but that's nit-picking
When I first heard of The Sting, I thought it was a horror movie about killer bees. Hence my surprise when I found out that it won the 1973 Best Picture and Best Director Oscars. However, since then I realised that it was a conman movie, and I liked the sound of this version even more. Particularly as I'm a huge fan of the BBC TV series Hustle, which in fact did a complete copy of this story for one of the episodes in the first series. So, if you ... ...the tail, which kind of spoils it.
The story is set in Illinois in 1936, during the depression, and goes as follows: Robert Redford plays a young conman named Johnny Hooker, who plays the short-con, i.e. taking small amounts of money at a time from people in the street. After taking several thousand dollars from a man, his partner is murdered by crime boss Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw). So he tries to track down the crook responsible and get revenge. ...
