Carry On Abroad truly encapsulates the feel-good spirit that made the films such an enduring success. ...the best endings in a Carry On film, firmly holding onto that fine, feel-good spirit which would slowly dissolve from here on. The cast are all on usual form, though Peter Butterworth and Hattie Jaques are perharps the best players here. They make an almost Laurel and Hardy kind of duo and Jaques in particular is an unusual role, playing a Spanish, downtrodden and seemingly demented cook. Carry On Matron had its first public screening in Studio One, London on 18th May 1972. A budget of only £220,256 and 6 weeks, the team had to get cracking. ...film… I have owned Carry On Matron on VHS for about 3-4 years, and now on DVD for only a few months. I feel that this is a very good film that should be seen by every one of all ages. Personally, I think that a separate section of Carry On films should have been made for all of the hospital visits. There is never more than 3 plots and sub-plots within each other during this film, which makes it very easy to follow than some of the Carry On films ... Read review
