And it's goodnight from them…
Advantages: Excellently written comedy and superb delivery Disadvantages: The extra features
...do justice to one of the best British comedy shows of all Time? As a child I can remember being glued to TV with my parents, rolling on the floor with laughter whenever it was screened (and these were just the repeats!). I was deeply saddened to learn that the genius that was Ronnie Barker had passed away, and I felt compelled to write a review as a small tribute to one of his most admiral pieces of work. The Two Ronnies have recently been voted ... ...watch this retrospective DVD of the Two Ronnies Show, it is not hard to see why this is.
***The Show***
The show comprised of 6-8 episodes containing of several hilarious sketches, which depicted outrageous situations. The stars of the show were Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbet, however, credit should also be given to the material for the show, written by Some of Britain's most successful TV comedy writers including David Nobbs, David Renwick, Michael ...

'Who do you think you are kidding, Mr Hitler?'
Advantages: Subtle humour, great addition to the series Disadvantages: Perhaps would have been better as three episodes rather than a film
...will not have heard of Dad's Army. It lasted for nine series and, although made back in the nineteen sixties/seventies, there are frequently repeats shown on the television. However, what I am reviewing today is a film that was based on the series and was made at the height of the show's popularity in 1971. It was popular at the time to make films based on sitcoms, rather like the seasonal specials of favourite sitcoms today. Perhaps much of the ... ...too much. The humour in Dad's Army is generally different - it is very subtle and of a type that catches you unawares. A good example from this film is a scene of the German Army planning their side of the battle in a very organised and high tech way, when a very important message comes in from the Fuhrer. It then cuts to Mainwaring, planning manoevres very haphazardly with the most primitive of weapons, when a message comes in from his wife to ask ...

Woody's Bananas
Advantages: humor Disadvantages: humor
Allen's gorilla warfare satire and political stabs (at J. Edgar Hoover and the likes) are memorable, one worth noting however- when trying to very discreetly, and unsuccessfully, buying a nudie magazine in small shop. The arrays of parodies are too vast to categorize- however, too often Allen dragged the burlesque of the scene.
For the price stated above- it's worth it, for if by any particular reason you don't like it- you only lost max. of four ...
