An Egyptian Farce
Review of Carry On Cleo (Wide Screen) by grafter123

Advantages: Funny, good characters and performances, family friendly
Disadvantages: Old hat to some

Carry on Cleo is one of the 29 comedy films of the British series of low budget films which were made between 1958 and 1978. This offering was released in 1964, was the eighth one made and is one of my favourites. It was made in full colour at Pinewood Studios, England, and utilised some of the set of the epic Cleopatra film which starred Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. As usual the cast has some of the regular cast from the Carry on Films. ...
...puns but they are fun. Carry on Cleo has a plot which very loosely follows some of History and is padded out with the usual nonsense. Is Carry On Cleo Recommended? Yes I always enjoy this film and I have seen it plenty of times. It has the usual elements of farce and pantomime but is somewhat of a classic, I feel. It has the vestal virgins as the young and busty female attraction but without becoming too crude and cringe worthy for example. When ... Read review

The best of the Carry Ons
Review of Carry On Cleo (Wide Screen) by scampbellajc

Advantages: Simply the best carry on
Disadvantages: none

This one is probably the Carry On Teams finest hour, a spot on spoof of the huge flop that was Cleopatra starring Burton/Taylor a few years earlier. Basic plot has Jim Dale & Kenneth Connor as Ancient Britons being taken into slavery and arriving in Rome. With Sid James as Mark Anthony, a very sexy Amanda Barrie as Cleopatra and Kenneth Williams as Caesar the casting is spot on Film is very funny and contains the classic line as uttered by Williams ...
...Carry Ons had continued with these style of send ups of which Carry On Henry was probably the last they may have lasted longer but with Girls.Convience,Abroad,Behind and England the quality got really bad towards the end of the series, but forget about that in this film you will see them at their best and how we remember them Once again considering this is a classic carry on there are no extras on this DVD guess a special edition is overdue ... Carry On With The Rumpo Kid
Review of Carry On Cowboy (Wide Screen) by IanPhillips

Advantages: The wonderful Sid James & Joan Sims
Disadvantages: No Hattie jaques or Barbara Windsor

...success of the hilarious classic, Carry On Cleo (1964)(one of the very best out of all 31 Carry On films made), director Gerald Thomas and producer Peter Rogers decided another parody was what was needed to keep the series vital and alive. Written by Talbot Rothwell, the team came up with another one of their ultimate entries in the series with Carry On Cowboy (1965). There was always a loose structure to the plot in most Carry On films but with ...
...comic misunderstanding (this is a Carry On film after all) ends up being sent a sanitary engineer with the laughably named Marshall P. Knutt (Jim Dale) who is accident-prone from the word go! Luckily for him, help is at hand in the shape of the volatile Annie Oakley (Angela Douglas) who turns up at Stodge City seeking revenge on her fathers murderer who just so happens to be the Rumpo Kid! The merry, loveable Carry On gang all take on surprisingly ... Read review

Swallow My Cockuccino
Review of Zack And Miri Make A Porno DVD by patel88

Advantages: Funny, great acting
Disadvantages: Story falls apart towards the end

...film is about two friends, Zack Brown (Seth Rogan) and Miriam Linky (Elizabeth Banks) who find themselves in financial difficulty to the extent where they are unable to pay their bills and their electricity, water and heating has been cut off. Fearing that they would be kicked out of their home, they start to brain storms ways in which they can make money. After having gone to a high school reunion and meeting an actor who makes pornos, Zack comes ...
...not finish making it. Instead Zack and Miri realise that they are in love with each other. So although the ending is weak, it is a happy ending. The movie to begin with was rather funny. For the first 30 minutes I was bursting out laughing. Some of the quotes were so forward, for example, Miri: 'No, don't thank me, just fuck me', they made me burst out laughing. When they started getting into making the porno, the humour started to slow down. The ... Read review

What happens in Vegas.....should STAY in Vegas
Review of What Happens In Vegas DVD by fionad86

Advantages: beautiful cast, easygoing and crowdpleasing
Disadvantages: dull, dull and far too predictable

Film - What happens in Vegas Stars - Cameron Diaz, Ashton Kutcher Whats it about - Joy (Diaz) has just been dumped rather publicly by her fiancé. Having bought him tickets to Vegas for his birthday, her friend suggests that they use them in a bid to help Joy get over the break up. Meanwhile Jack (Kutcher) is happy-go-lucky bloke who gets fired by his own dad, and decides to make himself better by, you guessed it……..going to Vegas with his best ...
...the best they could with what they were given, however it didn't cover up a really weak script and lack of imagination. The characters were all one dimensional (I can barely even remember either of the best friends) and it was all a bit boring to me by the end. There are much better comedies out there so wouldn't bother with this one unless you happen to be a huge Cameron Diaz or Ashton Kutcher fan. There isn't really much else to say about this ...
