An Egyptian Farce
Advantages: Funny, good characters and performances, family friendly Disadvantages: Old hat to some
Carry on Cleo is one of the 29 comedy films of the British series of low budget films which were made between 1958 and 1978. This offering was released in 1964, was the eighth one made and is one of my favourites. It was made in full colour at Pinewood Studios, England, and utilised some of the set of the epic Cleopatra film which starred Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
As usual the cast has some of the regular cast from the Carry on Films. ... ...puns but they are fun. Carry on Cleo has a plot which very loosely follows some of History and is padded out with the usual nonsense. Is Carry On Cleo Recommended?
Yes I always enjoy this film and I have seen it plenty of times. It has the usual elements of farce and pantomime but is somewhat of a classic, I feel. It has the vestal virgins as the young and busty female attraction but without becoming too crude and cringe worthy for example.
When ...

MEN - cake can seriously damage your life!
Advantages: Hilarious satire Disadvantages: Somewhat sexist
How to Murder Your Wife is a fun film not to be taken too seriously. Bachelors should be warned: cake can seriously damage your single life!
CAST/CREW/CREDITS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How To Murder Your Wife was released in 1965 and starred Jack Lemmon as Stanley Ford, Virna Lisi as his wife, Terry Thomas as the butler Charles, Eddie Mayehoff and Claire Trevor as Stanley's lawyer friend and wife respectively. The story for the film was written by George ... ...certainly didn't or doesn't want. How does he get rid of her? His antics are amusing. Terry Thomas as the butler is annoyingly smug. I can quite imagine in 1965 when this film was released that many wives were up in arms at the thought of their husbands getting ideas…
Stanley's friends are amusing too, they all feel good that he's now married as they are too and they get an almost evil satisfaction that he, too, has a woman in his life to tell him ...
Carry On With The Rumpo Kid
Advantages: The wonderful Sid James & Joan Sims Disadvantages: No Hattie jaques or Barbara Windsor
...success of the hilarious classic, Carry On Cleo (1964)(one of the very best out of all 31 Carry On films made), director Gerald Thomas and producer Peter Rogers decided another parody was what was needed to keep the series vital and alive. Written by Talbot Rothwell, the team came up with another one of their ultimate entries in the series with Carry On Cowboy (1965). There was always a loose structure to the plot in most Carry On films but with ... ...comic misunderstanding (this is a Carry On film after all) ends up being sent a sanitary engineer with the laughably named Marshall P. Knutt (Jim Dale) who is accident-prone from the word go! Luckily for him, help is at hand in the shape of the volatile Annie Oakley (Angela Douglas) who turns up at Stodge City seeking revenge on her fathers murderer who just so happens to be the Rumpo Kid! The merry, loveable Carry On gang all take on surprisingly ...
...classic is full of names that even the college aged set will be sure to know. I say names, for though they turn in truly splendid performances, the true star of the show is the animal playing D.C., a cross eyed mischievous Siamese cat full of real cattitude.
The FBI are desperate to crack a series of bank robberies, and not having much success. D.C. (short for Darn Cat), goes out for his daily wander, and encounters a woman being held captive by ... ...by Dean Jones), and decides that D.C. MIGHT be lead. Unfortunately, he is allergic to cats and as all cats seem to know these things, D.C. proceeds to take great delight in causing him discomfort. Nor is he about to merely co-operate by leading them to the haunt he found the woman in. First, he must go on his rounds, and the hapless FBI agent must trail him into all the awkward places a feline likes to go. All through this the excited teenage owner ...
