The originals are always the best!
Advantages: Excellent story Disadvantages: Remake might put people off seeing original
The story starts with a little old lady called Mrs Wilberforce going into a police station. She talks to the police but is told not to worry, dismissing her as a worrier. She leaves the station and walks home followed by a shadowy figure. The man knocks on the old ladies door and enquires about a room to rent. He introduces himself as Professor Marcus (played by Alec Guiness), they agree to the rent and the professor leaves. What follows is a sucession ... ...the guise of musicians, 4 men visit the house (including a young Peter Sellers) frequently. To the old lady they are fantastic musicians but they are criminals planning a robbery. The criminals do the robbery and are helped by the old lady without her even knowing! She later works out what they have done and threatens to tell the police, the men plan to kill the old lady, nicknamed Mrs Lopsidy. However, the greed of each man makes them look at each ...

All at sea in the hands of a Doctor
Advantages: Nice light comedy Disadvantages: The story and most of the film in general
...Sparrow is now a qualified doctor and working as an apprentice in a practice in London. He finds that not only is he doing all the work while his boss heads off to play golf but his bosses daughter is dead set on getting her hands on him. Deciding his only recourse it to run away he does the time honoured thing of escaping to sea. He manages to get a job on board a merchant navy ship... with no women on board! A trip to a port is something all the ... ...lonely men on board? Doctor At Sea (1955) was the second of the seven Doctor films made throughout the 50's and 60's and is, like the first in the series, very typical of British comedies of the era. This one loses Kenneth More from the cast but holds onto the other big name, Dirk Bogarde, the heartthrob of the era, reprising his role as Simon Sparrow, and finds a new role for the blustering James Robertson Justice. He has changed from being Lancelot ...

Four funerals and a wedding!
Advantages: Quirky, good looking macabre comedy from the master of suspense Disadvantages: Not the usual Hitchcock flm
The trouble with Harry is not your usual Hitchcock film for a start it's a comedy, a dark comedy but a comedy nonetheless. It wasn't well received by the audiences at the time of its release in the US but it became a hit in Europe and eventually went back to the states and was a hit the second time around. THE STORY While doing some illegal rabbit shooting in the woods retired ship's captain Albert Wiles fires a couple of shots after a rabbit he ... ...the next he loses in the bushes. Trying to find the rabbit he enters a clearing in the woods he finds a dead man lying there with a head wound. He quickly deduces that he must have accidently killed the man with his second shot going astray. Looking through the unfortunate man's pockets he discovers the man was called Harry Worp. Shocked by what he's done and worried about the repercussions he decides that the best thing to do would be to bury the ...

Not much Wisdom Here.
Advantages: Some funny moments Disadvantages: Only some funny moments
MAN OF THE MOMENT.
~Introduction~
****************
A single feature film from Norman Wisdom.
~Synopsis~
***************
Norman is a minor civil servant, who through the usual mishap becomes a favourite of the rulers of a South Seas island that the British government have an interest in.
The rulers take a liking to Norman and will deal with no one else.
The havoc he causes at the UN is very funny, if only.
He takes the ... ...protect the islander rights from exploitation. Not really a funny topic but Norman tended to take the stand for the little guy against the big bully.
~Opinions~
**************
The film is not one of his best with few running gags, (a French chef in a hotel he's staying at). The slapstick is also thin on the ground and the whole film lack pace and to be honest it even lacks plot at times.
Disappointing to watch and it hurts me to say that.

The Keystone Kops.
Advantages: Timeless Humour Disadvantages: EEERRM,,, Black and White is the only fault I can think of.
Abbott And Costello Meet The Keystone Cops Kops.
Quite tricky doing a review on a single DVD but here goes.
The Boys:
Bud Abbott was born in1895 in New Jersey, USA. Surprisingly Lou Costello was born 1906 also in New Jersey, USA. They had both toured in ‘Burlesque’ but had only limited success until teaming up in 1936. But it wasn’t until 1940 until they where signed by ‘Universal’ and went on to make ... ...years later in 1959. Bud Abbott however lived until 1974!
Their work will remain timeless as is the way with innocent and genuinely funny comedy.
The Movie.
The movie starts with Bud and Lou being conned into buying an entire film studio by a very slick con man. They soon realise they have been duped and so follow the trickster to Hollywood where he is using a false name and pretending to be a film director whilst embezzling the pay-role.
