What's Sarong with You ?
Advantages: still funny today Disadvantages: a little twee
...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A bit about Abbott and Costello:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bud Abbott was born in1895 in New Jersey, USA. Surprisingly Lou Costello was born 1906 also in New Jersey, USA. They had both toured in 'Burlesque' but had only limited success until teaming up in 1936. But it wasn't until 1940 until they where signed by 'Universal' and went on to make their first movie 'Night in the Tropics'. By 1950 there Star was starting to fade.
... ...along the way are pure Abbott and Costello. It is they who steal every scene they are in.
Who Done it?
~~~~~~~~
A murder mystery without any real mystery as the boys discover the head of their radio station has been murdered. They are soon involved in solving the murder but done in only the way they can do things, long, ardious and barmy. There is a hidden twist in the film as the killer is also a spy, enough said.
A good film and contains all ...

Cowboys and Indians Abbott & Costello style
Advantages: Good routines, some good songs and fun story Disadvantages: A bit of an oddity by todays standards
...than 25 films. Ride ‘Em Cowboy sees Abbott and Costello playing two hotdog and peanut sellers at a rodeo show in New York. Duke (Bud) and Willoughby (Lou) are their normal incompetent selves and soon find themselves trying to get away from their boss. In doing so they soon find themselves on a dude ranch employed as cowboys, something they are really not good at. Mixed into the plot is the famous singer ‘Bronco’ Bill (Dick Foran) and the girl he ... ...chaos going on. Ride ‘Em Cowboy is an early A&C film, released in 1942, and hence it has more of a variety feel to it. There are a number of songs in the movie and a couple of song and dance routines as well. There are even two songs from the incredible voice of Ella Fitzgerald, who makes a couple of short appearances. All this does make the film a little disjointed, fitting in comedy (the A&C classic ‘herd of cows’) with dance routines and a whole ...

The wedding of the year 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'
Advantages: Fun, nice story Disadvantages: Predictable
I first watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding a few years ago and although it hasn't become one of my favourite films, I do still watch it from time to time. The film first came out in 2002 so has been around for quite a while now. The story of the film is based around a character called Toula Portokalos (Christina Eleusiniotis). Toula is from a greek family, who take the traditions of their culture very seriously. Her family own a resteraunt called 'Dancing ... ...her thirties and yet has never really done anything with her life. She is plain and no-one really notices her as she goes around her everyday life. One day Toula decides to do something about her life and signs up to a college course. It isn't easy for her to persuade her Father Gus (Michael Constantine), but her Mother Maria (Lainie Kazan) manages to help her. Once she has started the course she starts to feel more confident in herself and decides ...

Offender of the Universe
Advantages: sick slick rapid succession of one line jokes Disadvantages: turns the air blue, plenty of bad language, not for the easily offended
Jimmy Carr is the Marmite of Comedy, you either love him or hate him, there’s not really much in between. On the UK comedy scene for the past 10 years, he has become more and more known over the past few years, in particular as host of comedy quiz ‘8 out of 10 cats’ and voice of many a Channel 4 ‘Top 100 shows’. Carr himself was voted number 12 in the ‘Top 100 Comedians’. Personally I love Jimmy Carr. Then again, I love a lot of the modern comedians, ... ...over the past decade. Jimmy Carr Telling Jokes is his latest DVD release. There are four previous releases of his stage show, all recorded at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London over time from 2005 until this year. One of Jimmy Carr’s previous DVDs opens with a warning: “This show is not for the easily offended, this is not even for those difficult to offend, this show is for people without moral compass.” Not only is this true for the DVD is was on, ...

Fawlty towers (Timeless comedy)
Advantages: Very verry funny Disadvantages: none
...box set has them all.
Fawlty towers is a hotel in Torquay, which is based on a real hotel (Gleneagles in torquay) where the monty python team stayed. All the other pythons left but John Cleese decided to stay and get material from this manager. He invited his wife Connie Booth to come and stay with him, and they began writing Fawlty Towers.
The first series was shown in 1973. John Cleese plays the happless Basil Fawlty, who is Married to Cybil ... ...and the only one who is sensible and she is person who makes the beds and sets the tables. Manwell (Andrew Sachs) is the spannish waiter who can speak virtually no English. This allows for a lot of funny scenes.
It is a sad thing that there were only 12 episodes made, but it may have made it become tired when they try and do too much. The 2nd series didn't come while four years later in 1977, and at this time John Cleese and Connie Booth were also ...
