L & H WAY OUT WEST

Advantages: VERY FUNNY
Disadvantages: NOTHING

Laurel & Hardy volume 3 = A single DVD containing 3 films, all of which are very enjoyable to watch. All 3 films come in Black/White and a colourised version. WAY OUT WEST = Who can forget the ‘Lonesome Pine’ and the clunk on the head that sends Stan a few octaves higher? The boys are trying to help a damsel in distress get her gold mine back and along the way all sorts of mayhem and misunderstandings happen. Superb ...
...most polished. An extremely funny film from start to finish. ONE GOOD TURN. = Stan and Ollie auction their car off to help out an old lady but as usual thing go slightly awry. The car will end up squashed of that you can be sure and the pair gets into a slapstick fight with passers by in the street. Another excellent ‘short’ feature from the boys. THICKER THAN WATER. Ollie gets a blood transfusion from Stan with rib crackingly ...

The Truth's not awful - this film is wonderful

Advantages: Cary Grant, Asta, Irene Dunne and a great script
Disadvantages: None whatsoever!

Nothing is sacred in Nothing Sacred

Advantages: Carole Lombard shines
Disadvantages: Strange concept for a film

...for sparks to fly! Nothing is sacred as the film makes fun of everything and everybody, including the generally more soberly treated subject of death. This is satire at its best. The dialogue is hilarious and March and Lombard underplay their roles to perfection. Despite its absurdity, the film is also very poignant and tender. ...
