Feel good family of Freaks.

Advantages: Funny, and all round good comedy and acting.
Disadvantages: none!

...believes she can win the Little Miss Sunshine beauty contest, 800 miles across the country. The film shows how even the most dysfunctional families can pull together when they need to. Steve Carell heightens the humour as a suicidal brother in law, living with the dysfunctional Hoover family. Foul Mouthed grandpa (Alan Kirkin) is a sex-obsessed drug addict, with a son – Richard (Greg Kinnear), who’s speeches to his children about winning are as interesting ...
...shown in the film) Also little girls reaching perfection, overshadowed by their parents own eagerness to succeed, is not the best way to start a young girls life; the early years of life is when our personalities develop. If young children are lead to believe their worth and value as human beings depend on their physical appearance, then this is likely to become their belief throughout their life. As much as the end is funny, it does seem to end ...

Bill Murray Shines

Advantages: Great performaces, entertaining set pieces
Disadvantages: A few too many cultural stereotypes

This is a film directed by Sofia Coppola (daughter of Francis Ford). It is a story of a chance encounter between 2 people in a Tokyo hotel - Bob Harris (Bill Murray) and Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson). Charlotte is in Tokyo accompanying her photographer husband while he is there shooting as she has recently graduated from university and has some time on her hands. Bob is staying in the hotel on business. He is an aging movie star who is starring ...
...his day to day life at home. Bob is having something of a midlife crisis and sees Charlotte as an escape from it. This is a curious and intriguing tale of love and relationships adepicting the two growing closer together. Both performances are excellent but special note has to go to Bill Murray for certainly his finest later career comic turn, which was rewarded by an Oscar nomination. The only slight grumble would be that on occasion the film plays ...

Weird and wacky film

Advantages: Enjoyable and entertaining
Disadvantages: It can sometimes get a bit confusing

Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind is a weird film directed by directed by Michel Gondry. It was released at the cinema in 2004. This film follows Joel Barish (Jim Carrey), who meets and falls in love with Clementine Kruczynski (Kate Winslet). Things go well, but then they discover that they both were lovers in the past, but after a big fight, In the past Clementine underwent a psychiatrist's experimental procedure and got her memories of Joel ...
...same procedure. However once the procedure starts Joel realises that he is not ready to erase his memories of Clementine and so his mind tries hiding parts of his memory to protect his time with Clementine. This film is slightly confusing and you may struggle to work out what is going on at times. However, on repeated viewings it does become clearer. It is a different type of story about what lengths someone will go to, to preserve his memories. ...

Who is playing who?

Advantages: Hilarious and brilliant cast
Disadvantages: none

In the eighties, a comedy film called, A Fish Called Wanda, was made about a jewel heist and the after effects. A Fish Called Wanda features a great cast and a brilliant story. The story revolves around George Thomason (Tom Georgeson) who plans a robbery with his American lover, Wanda Gershwitz (Jamie Lee Curtis), Wanda’s brother, Otto West (Kevin Kline), who is actually her secret lover and also George’s right-hand man, Ken Pile (Michael Palin). ...
...has moved the jewels to a new location. Wanda attempts to seduce George’s lawyer, Archie Leach (John Cleese), in an attempt to discover the whereabouts of the jewels. Otto also tries to become friends with Ken to discover more information. This is a hilarious film with some great performances, especially, Kevin Kline, who won a Best Supporting actor Oscar for his role. The script which was also written by John Cleese has the perfect combination ...

"Don't worry. We can walk to the curb from here."

Advantages: A funny and enjoyable experience
Disadvantages: Erm...you might not like Woody Allen

Annie Hall was the 'breakout' film for Woody Allen as a director. The film won four Academy awards including best picture/director and saw Allen move away from the freewheeling comedy films he was best known for at the time. Annie Hall is essentially about the relationship between Alvy Singer (Allen), a typically neurotic Allen character, in this case a comedian, and aspiring singer Annie Hall, played by Diane keaton in an Oscar winning performance. ...
...between Alvy and Annie's family. Annie Hall begins with Allen speaking straight to the camera as Alvy. The scene is an immediate indication that Allen has moved on and is seeking to make a different type of picture with more ambition. Alvy's very Woody Allen concerns give us an insight into his character and make an arresting beginning; "There's an old joke - um... two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the ...
