Carry On Emmanuelle
Review of Carry On Emmanuelle (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by sindy123

Advantages: If you like the Saucy harmless Comedy this is for you
Disadvantages: Unfortunately very few of the regular team were in this.

...among the last of the Carry On films is one of the best. Basically a comedic send up of the Sylvia Kristell Emmanuelle films. Williams is hilarious as the French ambasador as is Suzanne Danielle who plays his wife she will sleep with anything that moves. Classic performances from Joan Sims, Peter Butterworth and Kenneth Connor as the randy Chauffer Leyland. Jack Douglas absolutely brilliant as the butler Lions who Suzanne Daniels affectionately ... Review of Carry On Emmannuelle DVD by web_server_uk

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: The film

...true "Carry On"s such as Carry on Camping, Carry on Henry and Carry on Teacher. It struck me as budgeted, cheap writing and patched; and this was before I opened the magazine to tell me all this. It seemed to be a film to fill in a space whilst another great Carry On was in the writing stages, and needed the Carry On company publicising while it was being written. I felt that out of all interests and topics in the whole of the world, why did they ... Read review

The Black heart of a snake
Review of Blackadder - Complete Blackadder (Limited Edition Box Set) by blissman70

Advantages: great classic humour and hours of entertainment
Disadvantages: none for Rowan Atkinson fans... all for the non fans

...* BRIEF IDEA Edmund Blackadder is a character spanning many generations through out history, starting from the middle ages right through to 1917 during the Great War, with each series depicting his character as being a self centred chancer with a sharp mind, (apart from the first series where he does come across as being a little stupid?), with his life's status seeming to diminish as the next series opened, starting as the son of a king and ending ...
...the entire four series Edmund Blackadder always ended up with his side kick Baldrick, who happens to be a rather foolish and particularly clumsy sort of individual, although his heart is in the right place and he tends to serve Blackadder well in every era, although Blackadder does tend to use him as a sort of whipping boy. The theme tune throughout the series tended to be the same but is played to suite the specific era in which the show is set… ... Read review

Rewind or switch off?
Review of Be Kind Rewind DVD by sunmeilan

Advantages: Mos Def was great, quirky plot
Disadvantages: Plot so quirky it doesn't really have a point

...feeling a bit puzzled to be honest. In case anyone was wondering about the title - it apparently refers to a plea by video store owners to customers to rewind VHS tapes to the beginning before returning. Jack Black is perfectly fine as Jerry. Jerry is wildly eccentric, and looks it, which seems to be the case with many of the roles Black takes on, so he is isn't exactly stretched. However, he works well within the confines of the film, and even made ...
...really felt there needed to be one here. It could be that the director, Michel Gondry, is trying to make a point about the film industry - that it has become so Hollywood-ized that people have forgotten expensive special effects aren't always necessary. It could also be a commentary about our high tech society, and how videos have been replaced by DVDs, and DVDs are now being replaced by more high-tech mediums. Or maybe it is about the community ...
