Review of Marx Brothers Box Set DVD by betty_ethelyn

Advantages: These DVDs will keep you laughing for hours on end!
Disadvantages: None

...first invited to watch a Marx brothers film I was a bit sceptical, not being much of a fan of black and white and generally old films. However, I was seriously proven wrong. This box set contains six films: A Day at the Races, A Night in Casablanca, At the Circus, The Big Store, A Night at the Opera, and Go West. The jokes in this film certainly haven't aged and Groucho's one-liners are simply priceless, such as, "One morning I shot an elephant in ...
...know". Not only are these guys funny, they're incredibly talented too. At some point during each film there will be some kind of a reason for them to all start playing instruments. Chico plays some fantastic music despite the unusual technique he uses and Harpo manages to create a makeshift harp out of anything from a broken piano to a loom! These films are wacky and hilarious, with Groucho often posing as a man of authority despite being a complete ... Read review

All hail the Marx Brothers
Review of The Marx Brothers Collection DVD by alvy_singer

Advantages: Wisecracks, chaos and laughter
Disadvantages: A little too dated for some people

The Marx Brothers were the original punks. The anti-heros. The rebels. My Heroes. Nobody can deliver a line with as much wit as Groucho. Nobody can act so dumb yet be so streetwise as Chico, and nobody can cause as much havoc as Harpo. I remember back to primary school, when i was aged 10. We were told to name our heroes. My friend lifted his hand and called out Bart Simpson. Some other kid said the Thundercats, and someone else said Jesus. A bit ...
...was thinking of only one, the master, Groucho Marx. I was introduced at a young age to the Marx Brothers through films such as Love Happy, Monkey Business, Day At The Races and Horse Feathers. I've never been quite able to shrug off their influence on me. They were the outsiders, they were the underdogs. I know I can be who I want to be, because being different is better. Harpo, Chico, Zeppo and Groucho were the Marx Brothers (Gummo, a fifth brother, ... Read review

...I like Ricci, but that was her worst film, even more bad than her 1995 CASPER. The remake was directed by Bob Spiers (SPICEWORLD), and I think it is the worst remake that Disney has ever put out, especially since they have been insisting on remaking some of their older films for no apparent reason; this year we had FREAKY FRIDAY, which was moderately enjoyable, though the remake of THAT DARN CAT! was really boring and terrible, even borderline offensive, ...
