Delightful
Advantages: Funny, engaging, charming Disadvantages: Some adults may find it a bit childish
The idea is a simple but effective one: Life in Downing Street as seen by the Prime Minister's twelve year old son, Dillon.
The world is shown in a wonderfully child-like way, where prime ministerial power is seen as an embarrassing dad being silly. The stories are beautifully far-fetched, for example Dillon asking the Foreign Office for help with his homework and almost starting a war with Bolivia.
The writing seems flawless. It manages to be ... ...most of the characters are quite simply defined and shallow, the quality of writing and acting make them very easy to identify with.
The series was written by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman, the writing team responsible for Private Eye. The cynical side to their humour is clearly visible, but the writing is also very warm and understanding of human nature, which came as a suprise to me.
While the series was clearly originally aimed at children, it ...

Goldfish Memory
Advantages: Funny and light hearted Disadvantages: A little slow
If you enjoy modern living and life and need a slice of Dublin looking good and and Dublin folk being bad then this film might just do it for you. I was quite motivated to watch the film (having heard about it from other sources) but genuinely disinterested by the end of it. Sexuality and sexual behaviour is what the film tries to engage around but I found the film lacking heart and reason. Perhaps that is what modern Dublin is all about but, knowing ...

The poor mans 'meet the parents'?
Advantages: funny in some places, watchable, David Suchet's character Disadvantages: predictable, slightly boring at times
A combination of the weather getting colder, and me trying to save money, has meant that I am staying in and watching DVD's more to pass the time. One DVD I recently watched was The In-Laws. I had seen it before, and the first time round not been impressed, but decided to watch it a second time nevertheless, as many of the DVD's I have, have been watched so many times, I can practically recite the script!
~The story~
Jerry Peyser (Albert Brooks) ... ...to Mark (Ryan Reynolds), and the time comes when the two families have to meet. Jerry and his family are under the impression that Mark's father, Steve Tobias (Michael Douglas) sells Xerox machines for a living, but in fact, he is actually a CIA agent - something only his son Mark knows. When Jerry and his wife Katherine (Maria Ricossa) meet Steve for the first time, he shows up later, by which time the dinner Jerry had cooked is burned. Steve apologises ...

One Man And A Piano
Advantages: fantastic comedy show Disadvantages: some dodgy camera angles
...you would like. 1 Ready For This. This is the opening song for the show and Minchin comes onto the stage in a blaze of strobe lights and opens the show with a great little rock ditty where he manages to poke fun at himself while accompanied by a recording of him beatboxing with back up singers. 2 Prejudice In our modern free spoken society There is a word that we still hold taboo A word with a terrible history Of being used to ... ...to gingers, the playground taunt of choice. A hilarious song that manages to use more ginger puns than you thought existed! 3 America America is not a song but a stand up routine which discusses how forward Americans are compared to Australians and British people and are not afraid to shout about their achievements. Somehow the dialogue manages to veer onto the big bang and what will happen to a certain office block in Times Square in Manhattan ...

A night you would want to remember!
Advantages: Funny, Famous cameo, Unpredictable Disadvantages: slightly unbelievable at times.
Well I saw the Hangover in the cinema, and I plan on purchasing on DVD in the near future.
I thought this film was hilarious - one of my friends more so as he decided to go to watch it in the cinema about 3 or 4 times!
I personally felt the star of the show so to speak was Zach Galifianakis who played slightly odd soon to be brother in law Alan. I just thought his stupidity/twisted sense of humour was really funny, and entertained me all the way ... ...really, but at the same time quite amusing. I won't go into too much detail of what happens as I don't want to spoil any of the suprises during the film. Basically, the film is about a group of guys who go to Vegas for a bloke called Doug to have a stag night. Doug doesn't really feature in the film other than the beginning and end - as he goes missing - which is the point of the film. They wake up the morning after with a trashed hotel room, and ...
