Sometimes the truth is 'Stranger Than Fiction'.

Advantages: A unique, intriguing and well-written story with some powerful performances.
Disadvantages: the ending has been considered by some to be too neatly tied up.

Stranger than Fiction (2006) directed by Marc Forster is a somewhat dark comedy centred around a man called Harold Crick (played by Will Farrell.) Ridiculously underrated and underexposed comedy

Advantages: Clever, witty, original. Written by and stars Tina Fey - need I say more?
Disadvantages: You'll probably have to buy it on dvd, it's rarely shown on tv in the UK

This show is so criminally underrated in the UK - it definitely deserves a decent slot on a mainstream channel, to get the viewers it deserves! To be fair, it is fairly quirky and likely to divide opinion, but then so do most worthwhile comedies. It's set in the Rockerfeller Centre in New York (hence the name) and is based around the happenings at the NBC studios. More shoes than Trannies

Advantages: harmless feelgood movie
Disadvantages: Could have researched trannies much deeper

The film looks nice and the basic plot is OK. It's based on a true story about a boot & shoes factory that is on the verge of going under but is saved from the axe by starting to produce footwear for crossdressers, we then follow how that change effects those who work there. I'm sure the story was vigorously brutalized to have maximum impact on the viewers at the cinema. Non TV's (transvestites) and people who don't know any TV's are going to leave ...

The Dragon Lady and the Doormat

Advantages: A strong cast, sharp one-liners and put-downs, glossy direction.
Disadvantages: Some cliched writing and dodgy clothes.
