Wisdom is slightly lacking
Review of On The Beat / Man Of The Moment DVD by
Maximus-Qualitus
Advantages: Funny in parts
Disadvantages: Not as funny in some parts
Norman wisdom - On the Beat and Man of The Moment.
*****************************************************************
On the Beat (1962)
*********************
Norman is sick of being a parking attendant and dreams of following in his fathers footprints and become a police man. Unfortunately he fails the height test, not that that would be a problem today.
Dejected he starts going through his dad's old chest and guess what he finds? His fathers ... ...daft romp. The slapstick is on par with his other films but the gags are a bit thin on the ground. He was underestimated as a multi faceted actor and here he plays two characters very well.
The chase scene where hundreds of coppers are chasing him is superb.
No Mr Grimsdale on this outing.
RUNTIME: 106 min Man of the Moment (1955)
******************************
Norman is a minor civil servant, who through the usual mishap becomes a favourite ...

The Black heart of a snake
Review of Blackadder - Complete Blackadder (Limited Edition Box Set) by
blissman70
Advantages: great classic humour and hours of entertainment
Disadvantages: none for Rowan Atkinson fans... all for the non fans
...* BRIEF IDEA
Edmund Blackadder is a character spanning many generations through out history, starting from the middle ages right through to 1917 during the Great War, with each series depicting his character as being a self centred chancer with a sharp mind, (apart from the first series where he does come across as being a little stupid?), with his life's status seeming to diminish as the next series opened, starting as the son of a king and ending ... ...the entire four series Edmund Blackadder always ended up with his side kick Baldrick, who happens to be a rather foolish and particularly clumsy sort of individual, although his heart is in the right place and he tends to serve Blackadder well in every era, although Blackadder does tend to use him as a sort of whipping boy.
The theme tune throughout the series tended to be the same but is played to suite the specific era in which the show is set… ...

Rewind or switch off?
Review of Be Kind Rewind DVD by
sunmeilan
Advantages: Mos Def was great, quirky plot
Disadvantages: Plot so quirky it doesn't really have a point
...feeling a bit puzzled to be honest. In case anyone was wondering about the title - it apparently refers to a plea by video store owners to customers to rewind VHS tapes to the beginning before returning. Jack Black is perfectly fine as Jerry. Jerry is wildly eccentric, and looks it, which seems to be the case with many of the roles Black takes on, so he is isn't exactly stretched. However, he works well within the confines of the film, and even made ... ...really felt there needed to be one here. It could be that the director, Michel Gondry, is trying to make a point about the film industry - that it has become so Hollywood-ized that people have forgotten expensive special effects aren't always necessary. It could also be a commentary about our high tech society, and how videos have been replaced by DVDs, and DVDs are now being replaced by more high-tech mediums. Or maybe it is about the community ...

Ashton in a Role that Suits.
Review of Just Married (Wide Screen) by
katygriff
Advantages: Funny
Disadvantages: Not that Good Really
...other night and saw that Just Married was going to be on TV. I haven't seen that film in ages and actually do have it on DVD so I decided to watch it again. Well the film was as funny as I found it last time and it is one of the only things that I have loved Ashton Kutcher in a lot. This review will tell you why I think this silly film is worth watching for a laugh.
The story goes as follows. Sarah and Tom met, fell in love and then decided to take ... ...comedies you can watch and Just Married is a complete slapstick comedy so if you do not like this type of humour I suggest you don't even bother trying to watch this one. The laughs come thick and fast and it is a complete feel good film as you finish watching it with a smile on your face. Characters in this film are good as you get a decent amount of character development which makes you enjoy the story that much more. You also get characters here ...
