Amazing
Review of Monty Python - The Movies (Box Set) by Faryad

Advantages: So Funny
Disadvantages: Can be Boring Sometimes

...Brian,'' the members of the Monty Python troupe have demonstrated that it's possible to make wildly insane ''book'' comedies that look as impressive as ''Apocalypse Now.'' Revues, however, must appear to be lighter than air. ''Monty Python's the Meaning of Life'' recalls the format of ''Monty Python's Flying Circus,'' those wonderfully irreverent television shows -collections of mad sketches, surreal graphics and interruptions within interruptions ...
...settles down to the usual Monty Python concerns, presented in seven or eight separate sequences with titles such as ''Growth and Learning,'' ''Middle Age,'' ''The Autumn Years'' and ''Death.'' Among the highlights is a sequence set in the chapel of an ancient English public school where the rector, Michael Palin, intones, ''Forgive us, Lord, for this, our dreadful toadying,'' which is the cue for a wicked hymn in which the singers plead to be spared ... And now for something completely different.
Review of Monty Python's Flying Circus - Series 1 - Complete DVD by red-daze

Advantages: Every single episode from the first series.
Disadvantages: None

...Orginallly recorded in 1969, Monty Pythons Flying Circus, has become (and rightly so) a British institution. Made up of 5 university students, the team co wrote and starred in quite possibly the funniest series of sketches ever ceated. Chapman with Cleese, Idle with Jones and Gilliam animating profusley in the background, they produced the most bizarre, but highly amusing performances our TV screens have ever seen. As a veteran Python fan, there ...
...I have waited years for this compilation and as I guessed, it did not dissappoint. Very detailed menu options with Episode and Sketch search. Not to mention a fold out poster with every sketch on the flip side to boot. Why are you still reading??? Go and buy it!!!!! Excellent value for money and never ever ageing, this compilation with keep you amused for many years to come. The only downside? Waiting for series 2! ... Read review

Only Fools at its Best
Review of Only Fools And Horses - The Jolly Boys Outing DVD by blondgem

Advantages: classic epiosde
Disadvantages: -

...aware, I am a massive Only Fools and Horses fan. I had always watched them when I was young however it was not until they more or less came to an end with the Christmas Trilogy back in 1996, that I took a more active interest in these loveable characters. Each episode features highly in my opinion however this particular feature length epiosde The Jolly Boys Outing is by far in my top five of episodes, if not within the top three. This episode was ...
...in my opinion is the only episode that features all characters together, to give this extra glory in itself. The Jolly Boys Outing is a regular occurance in Peckham, as most men probably are familiar with these weekends. For the Peckham guys, there weekend is a trip to Margate on a bank holiday weekend, to do what all fella's do best, get plastered with their mates, and generally "what happens in Margate, stays in Margate" Rodney and Cassandra ... Twisted with a great anti-hero!
Review of Erik The Viking (Special Edition) by mamadee

Advantages: Some inspired comedy moments
Disadvantages: No consistency, and feels a little long in places

...which was a pity! Erik the Viking (Tim Robbins) gathers warriors from his village and sets out on a dangerous journey to Valhalla, to ask the gods to end the Age of Ragnorok and allow his people to see sunlight again. Particularly noteworthy are Jones himself as a king who quite literally only sees what he wants to see and John Cleese who has a hilarious cameo as Halfdan the Black who runs a torture chamber in his spare time. Also watch out for ...
...for me. This film is a hilarious Pythonesque satire of Viking life. Tim Robbins was fine in a cutesy, little boy way which is, I guess, what he was supposed to be. Cleese's role seemed uninspired with only brief moments of the genius we have come to expect. It was however a fun film particularly seeing Tim McInnerny pre-Blackadder-"Captain Darling" days and Antony Sher made an excellent "trickster" Loki. Despite the negatives, it's certainly worth ... Great Episode - Not Great Value
Review of Only Fools And Horses - Mother Nature's Son DVD by tehfincheh

Advantages: Delboy at his conning best, good story
Disadvantages: No extras and scenes edited out.

Aired over the christmas of 1992, "Mother Nature's Son" takes OFAH back to it's routes with Delboy up to his usual wheeling and dealing trickery. The previous year, we'd seen the Trotter brothers running rampant in Miami and although the humour was well intended, many wondered whether John Sullivan was running out of ideas by putting his characters in such an out-of-place environment. Thankfully, MNS sees the Trotters return to Peckham, but the story ...
...put your sense of realism on hold as the boys uncover the most unlikely of get-rich-quick solutions. Well, Delboy has. Everybody else is just being dragged along for the ride. With Grandad's old allotment to clear out, and Rodney pointing out early in the episode just how profitable spring water can be; it doesn't take a genius to work out where the story is going. Del is up to his usual games and by hook or by crook, their flat soon turns in to ... Read review
