Funny no tears formula

Advantages: Non offensive comedy style, intelligent comedian, Michael is warm to the audience and so you relax
Disadvantages: None

I first saw Michael McIntyre on a variety performance when flicking channels and was to be honest not a fan but after seeing him on Mock the Week and feeling that he has developed his style of comedy I decided to give this dvd a shot and was not disappointed. Michael McIntyre is an extremely intelligent comedian who always delivers his style of humour in a way which should make you feel like you are being spoken down to by him but it actually feels ...
...he is. I love watching Michael work as he is not scared to laugh at his own jokes and I was very impressed by his audience interraction which I have seen a lack of with some comedians but he has worked hard on his set and is now certainly at the top of his game. The dvd will deliver laughs and intelligent comedy and you will not walk away feeling like somebody has just stood swearing at you and insulting your inteligence but will infact walk away ...

Have a Laugh - The Worst Week of My Life

Advantages: Exceptionally well written, acted and observed. Very funny.
Disadvantages: Only 14 episodes, leaves you wanting more!

...perfectly. It is about the worst week in the life of Howard Steel, a man who falls in love with a girl from a more refined social background than his own. Don't let that mushy stuff put you off, this is far more rewarding than that! This is another series that comes from a company that seems to have amazing success at writing first class comedies. Hat Trick is an independent company with hits like Father Ted, Have I Got News For You and Room 101 ...
...and each programme represents a consecutive day in the week and there begins the story; the first series concentrates on the run up to the marriage of the two main characters (outlined below) and the second represents the build up to the birth of their first child. A 2006 3 part Christmas Special was also made and whilst hilariously laugh out loud funny, it is not included as part of this box set. Both series were shown on BBC 1 primetime Friday ...

A comedy classic

Advantages: Guaranteed to laugh, nice presentation of DVDs
Disadvantages: Only 12 episodes

...you can always rely on Fawlty Towers to either be voted the best or at least the second best comedy of all time. It is a remarkable achievement for a show that only ever had 12 episodes & which was slated by a senior BBC executive for being dull & uninspiring before it went on air. The first episode in 1975 had just over one million viewers at a time when we only had three TV channels to choose from. By the third episode the viewing figures had ...
...BASIC IDEA / STORY Fawlty Towers was written by the ex Monty Python creator John Cleese & his then wife & actress Connie Booth. The whole idea was based on a visit to the Hotel Gleneagles in Torquay in May 1971 when John Cleese & the other members of the Month Python team were staying. The owner of the hotel was Donald Sinclair who had a dislike to the hotel guests & was often very rude to them. He complained when he saw Terry Gilliam using a knife ...

Peter Kay.Live at the Bolton Albert Halls

Advantages: Great laughs throughout
Disadvantages: ???

...that any extra scenes from Peter Kay would have been hilarious. Peters main style consists of making jokes about the everyday things that we do. For example the 'Walking to the Dance Floor Dance',which im afraid the majority of us have probably done, and being at Weddings and family occasions, where a whole host of strange relatives come out of the woodwork! Kay starts the DVD off,by getting a Taxi with Boltons famous Taxi Driver:Mr Bee. Mr Bee ...
...about missing the show. Then Peter says something funny,if I remember correctly, like:'How can you miss the show when your sharing a Taxi with the comedian your off to see?!' These women are achully from Coronation street,in the name of Barmaids,Gina and Shelley. Kays jokes keep coming thick and fast and guarantee a laugh everytime. He not only does jokes, but incorporates singing songs that we all recognise, but by changing the words,he also demonstrates ...
