Have a Laugh - The Worst Week of My Life
Advantages: Exceptionally well written, acted and observed. Very funny. Disadvantages: Only 14 episodes, leaves you wanting more!
...perfectly. It is about the worst week in the life of Howard Steel, a man who falls in love with a girl from a more refined social background than his own. Don't let that mushy stuff put you off, this is far more rewarding than that!
This is another series that comes from a company that seems to have amazing success at writing first class comedies. Hat Trick is an independent company with hits like Father Ted, Have I Got News For You and Room 101 ... ...and each programme represents a consecutive day in the week and there begins the story; the first series concentrates on the run up to the marriage of the two main characters (outlined below) and the second represents the build up to the birth of their first child. A 2006 3 part Christmas Special was also made and whilst hilariously laugh out loud funny, it is not included as part of this box set. Both series were shown on BBC 1 primetime Friday ...

A Brilliantly Funny Performance
Advantages: Laugh out loud funny Disadvantages: Lots of drinking, swearing and smoking so not for kids
...you who haven't yet seen Ed Byrne on things like Just For Laughs, I would highly recommend him. Ed is an Irish guy who used to say he looked like Darlene from Roseanne and he's more of the observational comedy school but saying things you wish you'd had the nerve to say in those situations. He spends his whole time on stage drinking and smoking and he does swear rather a lot, so not one for showing children or for those who dislike swearing. The ... ...family, and an interview with Ed Byrne and Dara O'Briain, during which they watch bits of the live show and discuss it, which was OK. However, the DVD menu itself is quite amusing as there is a list of options and Ed walks on to the screen and sits on a stool making "dum-di-dum", "there you go" type comments while gesturing towards the options and once you select an option he tells you a bit about what will be shown.
It's hard to sum up Ed Byrne's ...

Funniest comedy
Advantages: Very funny Disadvantages: NA
...watched all the series of phoenix nights and each and every episode is as funny as the next, Brian Potter and the rest of his staff are very musing and have misadventures.you can not pick out the single funniest moment. My favourite bit it when Brian Potter is trapped on his stair lift during a power cut in his home and he tries so many different ways to try and get into contact with someone to come and help him but it is useless. Paddy Mcguiness ... ...clubs door men, they get up to all sorts of antics and they are both really funny characters, they get into a spot of bother where they think they are in the firing line of a proffessional hitman they go halfs and buy a motor home and take off into the sunset and the road to nowhere carries on the adventure they have. overall i think that these dvds were really funny and i really enjoy watching them. ...
