A comedy classic

Advantages: Guaranteed to laugh, nice presentation of DVDs
Disadvantages: Only 12 episodes

...you can always rely on Fawlty Towers to either be voted the best or at least the second best comedy of all time. It is a remarkable achievement for a show that only ever had 12 episodes & which was slated by a senior BBC executive for being dull & uninspiring before it went on air. The first episode in 1975 had just over one million viewers at a time when we only had three TV channels to choose from. By the third episode the viewing figures had ...
...BASIC IDEA / STORY Fawlty Towers was written by the ex Monty Python creator John Cleese & his then wife & actress Connie Booth. The whole idea was based on a visit to the Hotel Gleneagles in Torquay in May 1971 when John Cleese & the other members of the Month Python team were staying. The owner of the hotel was Donald Sinclair who had a dislike to the hotel guests & was often very rude to them. He complained when he saw Terry Gilliam using a knife ...

Good films, good price

Advantages: A good Comdey
Disadvantages: Can seem to last a bit to long

When I thought of the Pink Panther, I did not actually think of these films, I honestly thought of the little cartoon based on the films which are also featured in this DVD boxset, the films themselves are classics and are decent in their own right. The first 2 films in the set are the best of the lot, while the rest of them just seem to be a bit long winded and they start to loose a bit of the apeal. They are still a great comedy to watch and I ...
...with a bit of time between them otherwise you can get a bit bored. I was deffinatly glad that it included the wonderful cartoons that I remembered from my childhood, they were as brillent as I remebered and I probably would have bought a DVD with just them on. ...

"Still Game" - A fantastic Scottish Comedy

Advantages: Fantastic comedy, well written, with brilliant and believable characters
Disadvantages: New boxset with EVERY episode is available from November '08

...behind. The way in which Still Game is written is superb, with a laugh around almost every corner. Scottish comedy has rarely been as good as this, its simply a joy to watch. One of Still Game's strong points is the detail of all of the characters and the way in which this is revealed to the viewer. It is really easy to relate to them and the dialogue between characters is fantastic. Some of the supporting characters include Winston Ingram played ...
...What really makes Still Game a joy to watch is how the characters interact with each other. They almost make you feel like you are part of the community and can join in with their antics. Some of the situations Still Game explores are easy to relate to and make it that much more enjoyable to watch. I recommend it to any comedy fan who is looking for something original that will satisfy their need to laugh! You do not want to miss out on this comedy ...

Scrubs - The complete fifth series

Advantages: Great performances from all actors and the characters have not changed from previous series.
Disadvantages: The relationships between characters is hard to understand for new viewers

Scrubs is an American sitcom based in and around the sacred heart hospital run by chief of medicine Dr Bob Kelso (Ken Jenkins). Following the hugely successful series 1-4, the fifth does not disappoint! All 24 episodes are packed with outrageous humour like never before including many of JD?s (Zach Braff) classic girly antics and ridiculous fantasies often getting him into trouble with the egotistical Dr Perry Cox (John C. McGinley). You would ...
...Cox when he suffers a major blow after losing 3 patients, which sees him on a leave of absence from the hospital. The very last episode also finishes with a very significant twist. I highly recommend this series if you are as much of a scrubs fan as I am! ...

Funny no tears formula

Advantages: Non offensive comedy style, intelligent comedian, Michael is warm to the audience and so you relax
Disadvantages: None

I first saw Michael McIntyre on a variety performance when flicking channels and was to be honest not a fan but after seeing him on Mock the Week and feeling that he has developed his style of comedy I decided to give this dvd a shot and was not disappointed. Michael McIntyre is an extremely intelligent comedian who always delivers his style of humour in a way which should make you feel like you are being spoken down to by him but it actually feels ...
...he is. I love watching Michael work as he is not scared to laugh at his own jokes and I was very impressed by his audience interraction which I have seen a lack of with some comedians but he has worked hard on his set and is now certainly at the top of his game. The dvd will deliver laughs and intelligent comedy and you will not walk away feeling like somebody has just stood swearing at you and insulting your inteligence but will infact walk away ...
