One of the best historical compilations on the subject of aircraft carriers. Very much a ... more
film for those who know and understand the Navy's mission in the air - the flyings and their aircraft - and want to see and know even more. The filming is first class, as is the script and narration.Aviation at sea depicts the history of the carrier from the Langley in the twenties to the Kennedy in the seventies. It includes classic episodes in U.S. Naval aviation history: Battle of Coral Sea, Battle of Midway, launching of B-25 mitchells from the Hornet, the Lexington hit and sunk, invasion of Saipan, suicide Kamikaze raids - and much much more. The aircraft featured are too numerous to fully list. Just a small sample includes: Wildcats, Hellcats, Dauntlesses, Avengers and Corsairs. Also many Navy jets such as Demons, Sky Hawks and Phantoms. All filmed in fighting action and in great colour. Aviation at Sea is truly a valuable addition to any collection of Naval aviation.
Advantages: Good storyline and full of entertainment Disadvantages: Same as any old action thriller
I was at the video shop with one of my male friends, and he persuaded me to watch this film with him. He convinced me that it was a great film despite it being an action packed, masculine film, and I?d love it. I didn?t really have a choice, anyway?.. he was paying!
FRONT COVER: Tommy Lee Jones I stood in an assertive pose, with a steely white gun in his hand. You wouldn?t want to mess with him! There are additional small snapshots of Wesley Snipes, looking sternly from under his cap, and Robert Downey Jr looking a little er?..constipated!

Getting Better
***************
Now we step up a gear into the famous song from the Sergeant Pepper album. The sound is so true to the original I can hardly believe it. I never imagined it could even be done live. The drummer, Abe, plays solid beat drumming where required but when the interesting Indian bits come in he just flops effortlessly into what must be more demanding beats and rhythms. He gets better as the DVD goes on.
Here Today
*************
I?d not heard this before. Paul is singing to John Lennon about what he?d probably say if he was here today and they were in conversation. It?s just Paul with an acoustic and the golden voice. I love synths and samples but this is just so genuine and raw ? it?s a true musician communicating directly and powerfully to the audience. I saw a few tears being brushed ...
