I'm a bit of a US crime drama addict, I love watching CSI, Bones, and most recently Cold Case.
Cold Case started in 2003 some its a bit of a late find for me, but thanks to good old sky repeating everything about a million times so I am slowly catching up on the missed episodes. Basically Cold Case is all bout cases that have never been solved (they went cold), some of these could be 50 years old and some could be a few years old, they all tend to be a bout either missing people or murder.
The team (mainly Lilly Rush, Scotty Valens, Lt. John Stillman, Will Jeffries & Nick Vera) open the old case files (usually a family member remembers something important or a new bit of evidence comes to light) and start re interviewing the old suspects and witnesses etc, this usually stirs up old feelings amongst the various parties involved and usually leads to a very emotional ending.
The thing I love about his show is the way they give you a glimpse of the original story, so for example if you have a case from the 50's they give you clips all of the characters in the 50's so you get a really good idea of what each character is about and it also gives you a better understating of the case they are trying to investigate.
Unlike some of the dramas out there where you have to watch every show to follow the story this has a new story every episode so it does not matter if one minute you are watching one from 2008 then the next you are watching one from 2003, the cast is pretty much the same for each episode also, you have the five main characters (mentioned above) and you have the extras (which change from show to show).
OK so each episode tends to follow the same kind of story (someone gets killed, they investigate & solve the murder) but this can be said about most US crime dramas. I just love the way it has been done, having that glimpse back into the past and seeing the characters how they are now & how they where then makes this show that little bit different from the rest.
Advantages: Thrill a Minute plot Disadvantages: can be confusing at times
...Snatch for me is the greatest British Gangster movie placed above other gangster films such a Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Snatch is a thrill a minute movie involving gangsters dressed as orthodox jews, incompetent and overweight getaway drivers and hard as nails russian mafia men.
The music throughout the movie is excellent placed a perfect and relevant points throughout.
The movie, as well as being your typical action packed gangster run around, also has many comedic moments including a dog swallowing an oversize squeeky toy.
the dvd quality itself is very impressive with a very well laid out opening menu with plenty of extras but not too many as is the case with many of the new dvd releases nowadays.
in conclusion this dvd is a great watch for those boring, cold and wet days stuck indoors...

...of the water; namely that coldcase files did not hold interest-potential.
With this in mind, I decided to bite the bullet and set aside my aversions to the cast list, to give the series a chance. I suppose that, deep down, part of me wanted it to be an abject failure so that I could whinge about the BBC wasting license payers' money again. Fortunately, (or unfortunately depending on your point of view), I soon began to realise that, sometimes, the whole really is greater than the sum of the parts.
The DVD Set.
In this DVD set, there are five stories. This includes the pilot episodes and all four other storylines that made up the first series. Each storyline is split into two, roughly fifty minute long, episodes, giving a total run time of approximately 475 minutes. At £15.99 (from Play.com), this works out at about 3p per minute, which is...
