I have often passed this DVD in my local supermarkets wondering whether it was worth watching. It has got a cover a bit similar to The Day After Tomorrow scene, unfortunately the security tag on the back of the DVD has always prevented me from reading its brief description which says "From visionary producer J.J. Abrams (Lost) and director Matt Reeves comes the worldwide sensation of nonstop terror and suspense everyone is talking about." Perhaps I have been living in a bubble, but certainly nobody I know has been talking about this film, and there is nothing in the description that really tells me anything about what this film is really about, in the end it was the film scenes on the dustjacket that sold me the idea of buying the film, expecting high quality affects to the quality of The Day After Tomorrow. If anybody like me, buys the film for this reason, expecting high quality dramatic special effects like The Day After Tomorrow, you will be very surprised, as my description says, expect a film more along the lines of a Blair Witch Project Meets War of The Worlds. You will spend the first part of the film, wondering whether you got the right DVD, it follows the Blair Witch style of following fairly routine events of somebody out and about filming their mates with their personal video camera. The description on the dustjacket is accurate in one sense, you will be in suspense of what is about to happen or what is going on for quite a longtime. I think the film was a very novel watch, scary in parts, definitely correctly rated at 15, but not one for anybody who gets motion sickness from watching home video cams. To write anymore about the film would take away from the suspense and enjoyment for people who enjoy Blair Witch style films. To compare it with war of the worlds, is a generalisation on my part, again I don't want to give away too much about the plot, but you will have gathered from what I have written, that this film is about aliens, not natural disasters.
