This John Cleese classic comedy was released in 1986 and was an instant hit.
**BRIEF PLOT**
The headmaster of Thomas Tompion comprehensive school, Brian Stimpson, (played by John Cleese) has an obsession for punctuality, who has turned a failing school into a success. His reward for turning the school around is to be the head speaker at a headmasters conference in Norwich…. he just has to get there. His military style planning to get to the conference soon unravels as everything starts to go wrong, starting when he gets on the wrong train. With his plans in turmoil and the speech he wrote heading for Plymouth things go from bad to worse as he attempts to get to Norwich via other means. When Brian seeks help from one of his pupils, Laura, (played by Sharon Maiden), to take him to Norwich things really become comical as Laura's parents become convinced that something more sinister is happening. This then creates many people all heading for the conference in Norwich, including Brian's wife, Gwenda , (played by Alison Steadman), who is convinced that her husband is having an affair with the schoolgirl.
**IN CONCLUSION**
A classic Cleese movie with his usual banter and fantastically funny acting. The story line is well thought out and there are many comical events which unravel around Cleese as he tries to keep his head whilst everything that can go wrong do go wrong.
When the misunderstanding start to happen the film really turns a corner and becomes more comical as everyone pursuing Cleese is convinced he is up to no good, meanwhile Cleese is adamant that he must make it to the conference no matter what.
The comedy includes a cross country drive in a little 'Morris 1100' car, a visit to a Monastery for a quick bath, a kidnapping of an old school friend and the usual movie style police chase…English style.
I really enjoyed watching this movie, (but I think John Cleese is a great actor anyway). The continuous mishaps and excellent comedy makes this a great film to watch over and over again.

Good review. I just love this movie, I have seen it so many times. I can so relate to John Cleese in this, as I'm somewhat time obsessed myself. I love the ending when people keep turning up late and he still tells them off after everything he's been through. And of course the monastery bit - okay, it's all great!!
