A look at some of the motorcycles that helped more and more people to travel short journeys easily and quickly in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.
jumped onto a revolutionary, new and growing bandwagon that was to help more and more people travel short journeys easily and quickly. This was in the new pedal bicycle business. Then in 1896 a Coventry firm called Bayliss and Thomas fitted a Belgium Minerva engine to one of their bikes and the Excelsior was born; the first British motorcycle to grace our roads. But they were unable to hold the monopoly for long, for by the turn of the century dozens of other manufacturers followed their example and the British motorcycle industry was born. In the two volumes of this documentary you will be able to see and hear about many of the very early models produced between the wars and afterwards. Much of the video you will see of the earlier motorcycles are pictures of the last examples of their type.To list here all the motorcycles you will be able to see in the two volumes of this set would take up far too much space as there are well over a hundred classic models to look at. But, just to wet your appetite here are just a few: 1902 Excelsior. 1903 Kelly. 1904 Ormonde. 1906 Lloyd Thomas. 1904 Quadrant. 1910 Lincoln Elk. 1909 Brown. 1914 Royal Enfield. 1912 New Imperial. 1906 Imperial. White Heather. Date unknown. 1907 Rex. 1908 Triumph. 1909 Torpedo. Later models Include: 1920 N.U.T. 1922 Wolf. 1923 Douglas. 1911 Singer. 1913 Rover. 1912 Rudge. 1914 Scott. 1915 Connaught. 1917 Royal Rugby. Sheffield Minor. 1921 Auto Glider Scooter. 1922 Radco. 1923 Triumph. 1923 PV Spring Frame. 1898 Dennis Speed King. 1915 New Hudson. 1934 New Imperial. 1931 Rudge. 1908 Norton. 1920 Norton 1921 Vellocete.

Advantages: Hilarious comedy, good viewing Disadvantages: only 3 episodes, expensive to buy whole set individually
...Another installement to my DVD collection - the epic and classic comedy hero - Mr Bean. I love Rowan Atkinson, especially in Black Adder and also in the classic Mr Bean episodes. Despite my mood before hand, after watching Mr Bean I always feel much better, he always manages to intrigue my imagination with his biazarre mannerisms and abilty to turn the most straight forward of tasks into complete disaters!
Having not being able to buy the whollebox set I have had to purchase and review each DVD volume one by one.
This DVD contains 3 episodes, each with 3 or 4 sketches in them. All of whihc are brilliant and this DVD includes one of my favourites - the one where he goes to the swimming pool and clings to the diving board. The three episodes are entitled: Episode 1. 'The Curse Of Mr Bean', Episode 2. 'Mr Bean Goes To Town...

Advantages: entertains the kids Disadvantages: not brilliant, not that funny, more cute than funny
.... However this defeats the object of the Beanmeister. He was supposed to be old fashioned and quirky, living in the ignorance of modern advances of technology and updated fashion trends.
Saying this, the kids appear to love it. Why I ask it really is not funny, and he talks too much. The old mr bean got in trouble incidently, this cartoon version appears to go looking for it.
The DVD consists of one disc and features eight animated episodes each lasting abou 15 - 20 minutes in length, including: 'No Pets', 'Ray Of Sunshine', 'Birthday Bear', 'The Mole', 'Roadworks', 'The Sofa', 'Treasure' and 'Homeless'. In these episodes we see a cartoon version of the classic Mr Bean go about his daily chores, celebrate his teddy's birthday, get in trouble with the police and even manages to loose possesion of his home.
Overall I'm awarding a 3 star...
