Advantages: Wonderful and refreshing angle to this film Disadvantages: Not to everyone's taste
...The mere word Titanic strikes chord in most of our hearts. It appitimises the arrogance of the human race and the devistating tradgedies that such arrogance can incurr, indeed the plight of the classes aboard the Titanic strikes further into our concience as we are forcefully reminded of the inevitable end of the lower class passangers suffered.Quite possibly these thoughts and emotions are subconcious in many of us,but few hear the name without the odd hair bristling somewhere in the back of our minds.
What makes this version of the film so different and refreshing is that the story is made from a different angle. Not only are we veiwing the whole tradgedy through the eyes of a survivor, but the tale encorperates the love story in a way which, without trivialising the tradgedy, lightens and embraces the emotions that are under...

Advantages: Fanatstic selection of material, essential for fans Disadvantages: The mini movie is hard going!
...I’ve been meaning to write a review of this DVD for ages, since Christmas in fact, when I received it as a much welcome present. Remember Christmas?! Yes, it’s taken me three months but now I’ve done it…
I’m still fairly new to the world of DVDs so the novelty of the good quality and handy menu features which are not found on most videos still delights me! Especially in the case of a DVD of long time much loved band with the lead singer, Joe Strummer, sadly prematurely passed on.
Enough preamble, let’s get on to the important stuff! The Clash were one of my favourite bands when I was in my teens (a long time ago!) and remained so. I own all their albums and most singles (on that funny old black vinyl stuff) but sadly had never had a video of them so when I saw “The Essential Clash” DVD in the shops some time ago last year I...

Advantages: Good model shots of the Titanic Disadvantages: Mostly Dull
...as threatening in anyway whatsoever, so that was another opportunity lost which could have racked the suspense up a few notches. On top of this there was disappointment for the Cussler fans, maybe not back in 1980 when he was still quite a fledgling author, but certainly today on the back of this DVD release. Albert Giordino is missing entirely and Dirk Pitt is actually quite an un-likable, argumentative type of guy, which is a million miles from the novel character.
So with an action/adventure story with very little action or adventure and a story that only stick to the full Cussler story sparingly it could only bomb. I cannot help thinking that story of the Titanic and everything surrounding has always conjured up romanticised notions of the large proud luxury liner sinking on her maiden voyage and the script writers figured that any story...
