Once upon a time in a far away kingdom, there lived a beautiful girl who lived with her father. He was a kind and gentle father but Cinderella, as the young girl was called, had no mother. Her father re-married, but she was a cruel woman who had two daughters of her own. When Cinderella's father died, her stepmother made her the maid and she waited night and day on her and her two spoilt stepsisters. But Cinderella was happy enough. She had the birds as friends, not to mention the mice - particularly Gus and Jaq.

One day, whilst sweeping the stairs of the huge mansion they all resided in, a Royal Representative arrived with invites for all the eligble maidens in the Kingdom to attend the Royal Ball where Prince Charming (apparently rather dashing!) would choose his bride. Cinderella finds her mother's old dress to wear - a little old-fashioned but she can make it a beautiful Ballgown. Her stepmother finds out Cinderella's intentions to go to the Ball and says that she can only go if she completes and impossible amount of tasks. Distraught, Cinderella realises she'll never have the time to finish all her chores and make her dress as well.

After helping her stepsisters dress for the ball, Cinderella retreats to her room at the top of the house. Greeting her there is her dress and it looks absolutly wonderful! The little mice had worked hard making the Ballgown look spectacular. As Cinderella thanks the mice, she rushes off to catch up with her stepmother. Shocked by Cinderella's success in finding a suitable dress to wear and completing all her housework, her stepmother thinks quickly for another reason for Cinderella not to go to the Ball. That's when her stepsisters notice the beads and the sash that they had thrown out for junk adorning Cinderella's dress. They tear the gown apart leaving it a tatty mess. And the trio leave for the Ball...

Unconsolable, Cinderella runs out into the garden where she sobs, all alone. But then, the air begins to sparkle, a little at first, then more and more and finally there appears a eldery lady - Cinderella's Fairy Godmother. In disbelief, Cinderella watches as her Godmother sings "Bibidi Bobidi Boo" and the pumpkin, mice and horse all transform into a handsome Carriage complete with white horses and footmen. As the finishing touch, the Godmother magically dresses Cinderella in a sparkling Ballgown of pale blue with gorgeous glass slippers. Off she rushes to the Ball with a warning she must be back before midnight because that's when the magic will end.

Cinderlla arrives at the Ball, a complete stranger to everyone else. She is admired by all the ladies at the Ball as she is astondingly beautiful. The Prince notices her and immediatly approaches her. They dance all night and have such a wonderful time that Cinderella forgets all about the time. As the clock begins to strike, Cinderella dashes away, not even giving the Prince her name. All she leaves behind is one of the tiny, elegant glass slippers.

Next day and everything is the same. All Cinderella has left is the memory of her fantasy night and the other glass slipper. There comes a knock at the door and it is the Prince's assistant demanding that everyone in the household try on the glass slipper that had been found by the palace. Whoever the slipper fits would be the Prince's bride. Cinderella's stepmother cruelly locks Cinderella in her room as she suspects Cinderella of being the mystery princess. Through the help of all her animal friends, Cinderella escapes the room and runs downstairs. The glass slipper had broken from the stepmother's last feeble attmept from keeping Cinderella from trying on the slipper. It doesn't matter though - Cinderella has the other slipper.

And as in all fairytales, Cinderella marries her handsome Prince...

...And they live Happily Ever After.

**~~My Favourite Part~~**
My favourite part is where the mice make Cinderella her dress. They happily sing "Cinderelli" in their high-pitched squeaky voices and invent ingenious contraptions to lift themselves up to the dress. Working as a team with needle and thread, they make the most beautiful dress! Gus and Jaq are the funniest, they scurry round the house lookign for odds and ends to accessorise Cinderella's dress with. They end up in a rather nasty situation with the cat - Rusifer - who tries to catch them! Don't worry, they escape!

**~~What Makes it So Good?~~**
The film has everything a good animation needs to have which is what made is so successful. Beautiful songs (in the last Disney release, they missed songs out! - I hope this doesn't happen in the future because Disney songs are the best!), loads and loads of sparkle and magic, comedy, romance and a really happy ending!

**~~What are the Songs Like?~~**
The film is a true classic and features unforgettable songs like "So This Is Love", "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and "Bibidi Bobidi Boo". They just don't make em' like they used to! The Cinderella Soundtrack is availible, but you might have to order it. I've got the piano music which is really lovely to play. If you play the piano, try and get the msuic book because the arrangements are fantastic!

**~~Who's in It and What are the Characters Like?~~**
There are no big, blockbuster names in it and you may only recognise the names if you're a really huge Disney fan. Ilene Woods played Cinderella. These were back in the days where the Disney actors sang their parts as well - nowadays they usually have seperate singers and actors for each role. Shame really! All the characters were brilliant, particularly the animals. Even the ones who don't talk like Cinderella's dog and the birds are full of personality!

**~~Anything else?**~~
Cinderella is one of the most beautiful stories ever told by Walt Disney. The film was made in 1950 and including Walt Disney favourite scene ever -the scene where Cinderella is transformed by the Fairy Godmother. The film got nominated for three academy awards and, even though it didn't win any, the film was always be treasured and remembered.

Good review. I did feel that you told us too much of the story so watching it would be no surprise. Saying that, most people know the story of Cinderella and that all Disney films have a happy ending. There may still be some out there that don't. Just don't give the game away altogether. Good op other than that though. Love Lucy x

You should watch the Whitney Houston version of Cinderella. It is really good!! She plays the fairy god mother and Brandy plays Cinderella. Whoopi Goldberg also stars!! Thanx for the op :) x
