Cinderella is a classic Disney film that most children will have watched at some point - it is the fairytale type story and is the 12th animated film made by Disney.
The story: Cinderella lives with her step mum and two step sisters Anastasia and Drizella and after her father passed away they were all left living in their huge home together. However, her step mother makes her do all the housework and treats her generally very badly. Her two step sisters are smothered by their mother and are absolutely dreadful, shouting at poor Cinderella all day and night.
One day the King decides he wants to find the Prince a wife and so arranges a ball to be held for all the eligible women in the Kingdom. When the step mother realises that Cinderella is eligible she says she can go as long as all her chores are done. However, she tries her very best to stop her going in every way possible and eventually with no dress to wear poor Cinderella is left upset and left at home on her own. This is where the magic happens with a fairy godmother coming along to give Cinderella a chance to go to the ball with a beautiful dress, glass slippers and a gorgeous carriage to take her to the ball. She tells Cinderella she has until midnight before her dress will return to her normal scrubs and that she must leave before then.
Once at the ball the Prince spots her and asks her for a dance. They spend the evening together talking and dancing and the prince is upset to see her leave in a hurry when the clock strikes midnight. Cinderella runs off and as she leaves her glass slipper falls off which the Prince finds and he vows to find the girl with the glass slipper who he will then marry.
So will the Prince find Cinderella or will her step mother stop him from finding her?
The cast: There are many voices that have done the speaking parts for the characters here and the main ones are as follows -
Cinderella - Ilene Woods Stepmother - Eleanor Audley Prince - William Phipps Fairy Godmother - Verna Felton Drizella - Rhoda Williams Anastasia - Lucille Bliss
Extras: The DVD comes with a variety of extras which include - House of royalty - look inside the world of real life royals The royal life - design your own princess gown and bedroom Deleted scenes Rags to riches - the making of Cinderella
Overall opinion: I think Cinderella is another classic film people will either have seen as a child or watched with their own children at some point as it is a typical Disney fairytale. The characters are well created to make us love them or hate them, in the case of the evil stepmother! I particularly like the animals in this film as they have been created with such character and play a big role in the film. The facial features they have will really appeal to young children and overall they are very lovable. Cinderella is much geared towards the female audience as it has a young woman who gets to go the ball in a beautiful gown and meet Prince charming, but I'm sure all children will have watched this at some point!
I highly recommend this film to any families DVD collection and I'm sure it will be watched over and over again!
The film is rated 'U' so suitable for all ages. You can buy at various online stores at around the £12 mark.

Sorry for the H, but if this is to be a full DVD review, I would prefer to see a review of the extras in similar detail to the way you've reviewed the film, rather than just a list of them.

Advantages: Language very clear and easy to understand by children from age 3 .You do not need to watch cinderella (1) to follow the stories Disadvantages: It contains the story iniatially being narrated which could confuse younger kids a bit at the beginning
