Advantages: So yummy - the perfect accompaniment to a quite night in Disadvantages: Will gain you pounds if you're not careful!
...Shock horror - Ben and Jerry's ice cream for sale in Tesco at £2.91? No I wasn't dreaming. Yesterday (29th May) my boyfriend and I ventured in to see what ice cream was available to devour whilst watching my Donnie Darko DVD, and we were pleasantly surprised to see this rather fantastic offer.
Having sampled the likes of Caramel Chew Chew, Baked Alaska and Phish Food before, we decided to let go of our inhibitions and opt for something new - Ben and Jerry's ChunkyMonkey.
ChunkyMonkey is a banana flavoured ice cream with pieces of walnut and dark chocolate banana shapes hidden throughout the tub to make you squeal with delight. As I'm sure many of you have found, when you purchase something that claims to have pieces of fruit or chocolate in, you generally end up very dissapointed at the lack of said pieces. ...in this ice cream though but I don't think this makes it any less enjoyable.
However always with pleasure comes pain and this is not a healthy dessert with only 100g containg 290 calories and 17g of fat! Bearing in mind the whole pot is 500g and I can easily eat half this is worth remembering! However it is "healthier" than some of its brothers and sisters!
Eat too much of this and you may well become a chunkymonkey!
Also on dooyoo under the same name...

Advantages: Scrumptious Disadvantages: Lots of calories
....88 for a 500ml tub. This is quite expensive but as a rare treat it is nice and I think the price does reflect that it is of very good quality. The only problem with ChunkyMonkey is that it is very hard to find in most supermarkets. Rarely have I seen it.
Of course there is one other consideration to make and that is nutritional value. Ice Cream does tend to be quite fattening........Unfortunately I can't find the nutritional information for it so I'll just have to convince myself it's low fat and remind myself of all those antioxidants in the dark chocolate and omega 3 in the walnuts!...
