She's the Man dvd

Advantages: Really funny, feel-good film
Disadvantages: None that i can think of..!

I recently purchased this DVD after one of my friend's made me watch her copy, because I loved it so much! The plot is based on Shakespeare's play Twelfth Night, but is a more modern version with slight changes, obviously! The main character Viola (Amanda Bynes) is desperate to prove she is a good football player after being told she cannot join her school team because she is female. She plots to disguise herself as her twin brother Sebastian and take his place at his new school (whilst he is away with his band) to prove her football skills. She manages to convince everyone she is male (albeit a slightly odd one) - even popular girl Olivia gets a crush on her/him. Viola, however, has fallen for her roommate Duke (Channing Tatum :P ), who has been helping her with her football, but she cannot reveal this due to her disguise. All in all ...

Review of She's The Man (DVD)

The $3 million Man

Advantages: Excellent acting, powerful story
Disadvantages: Dated now

On my latest shopping trip and the usual walk past the bargain DVD?s I happened to spot this one and wondered to myself my I had never seen it before as it stars two actors which I really do like. At the start of the film we meet Charles Babbitt, played by Tom Cruise who owns a business and is in desperate need of money to save this business. He is off on a business trip with his girlfriend when he gets news that his father has died. Charles is not sad by this as he hadn?t spoken to his father since he was 16. Charles does attend the funeral as he needs to find out what is going to happen to all his father money and property as he really could do with this money. Charles soon discovers that he has only bee left the car and the money and property have been given to a trustee. With some research Charles is lead to a hospital where he ...

Review of Rain Man (DVD)

Shhhhhh, It's the Quiet Man!

Advantages: Good story, some good acting, nice scenery
Disadvantages: Very bad painted backdrops!

As I have quite enjoyed John Wayne?s film when he has not been plying a cowboy I was quite looking forward to seeing this, yes I cant believe t myself but I was looking forward to it!!!! John Wayne plays the role of Sean Thornton, he was born n Ireland but lived his life in America where he was a boxer. He has decided that he would move back to Ireland to the town where he was born as he has now ended his career after he killed a man in the ring. When he arrives in town he finds things are very different to his way of life in America and after some persuasion he persuades an old lady to sell him an old cottage and land where he was born and his family lived. The arrival of Sean is not welcomed by Will Dansher as he wanted to buy the land but was never sold it. Sean meets a beautiful lady called Mary Kate and he falls for her ...
