Advantages: Good film overall, good menu navigation Disadvantages: lack of features
...suprise to round off the film).
Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets is an incredibly enjoyable film, for both children and adults alike.
However, as with the Philosopher's Stonedvd, this one also falls short where actual disc content is concerned.
You have the obligatory subtitles and trailers, but when it comes to the second disc, it's rather light on extras. The special features consist of a tour of Dumbledore's office and a selection of short interviews with the cast.
This is the main problem. You navigate your way to the cast section and select a question from a list, which gives you the choice of answer from the children/students or the adults/teachers. This is quite a nice feature, although, the interviews are much too short. It's hard to grasp what the making of the film was really like.
Another downfall is the lack of actor...

Advantages: Reality Based Live Action And loads Of Big Diggers Disadvantages: Music Can Get A Little Annoying
...this but I usually only let him watch for 20-30 minutes at a time. The DVD shows lots of different excavators, tractors, dump trucks and farm machinery so if your child likes diggers, dumpers and tractors I would highly recommend this DVD. Children are also learning while they watch I had no idea a dump truck could carry 35 tons of stone WOW! or that cows eat 75lbs of feed a day (I thought they just ate grass lol), and make about 8 gallons of milk....interesting stuff.
All the children I look after enjoy watching how some of our foods are grown and made into the end product's (milk, peanut butter, bread and crisps).
Throughout the DVD music is played (this can get a little annoying but Joe doesn't seem to mind). The drivers in the machines all wave (Joe waves back) and there are short talks from farmers and drivers about what...

Advantages: good price Disadvantages: not all deleted scenes were shown
...my children and I were up early on the 11th may to get our copy of harry potter and the philosophers stone after waiting months for it to be on general relese. We really wanted to see the footage of peeves the ghost played by rik mayal which was unfortunatly cut from the film because the running time was too long. We also knew other scenes had been cut and were looking forward to them too. The DVD does show 7 deleted scenes but none more than 30 seconds long and certainly no Peeves!! This was a big dissapointment. The interactive parts of the DVD are boring and pointless you can look round rooms at hogwarts and click on bertie botts beans in several places just to hear " yuk a bogie flavour" To get to the deleted scenes in the first place you have to weave through the interactive parts and the scenes are your reward for finding the stone...

Advantages: Eddie Murphy is the only advantage Disadvantages: Unsuitable for children under 15
...I took my 6 year old daughter and my 12 year old son to see The Haunted Mansion the rating is PG and the review states Family comedy based on Disney, Safe bet for children of any age or so I thought, 5 minutes into the film you are scared stiff with zombies grabbing at children ghosts screaming through a house ghosts appearing right behind people very very frightening. There was only one part of the whole film which i would say was a bit funny and that was 4 stone heads singing together, The only laugh my children and I got was falling over each other trying to get out the door of the cinema. The film itself would probably be ok for older children but certainly not for young ones, there was only about 12 people in the cinema when we went in and half way through there was no-one left....

Advantages: Funny with a very clever story Disadvantages: A Bit slow in places
...All adults will love this film just a much or even more so than the children. In my opinion children would prefer to watch the disney animation ' bugs life'. The graphics in Antz is great from the expressions on the characters faces to the spectacular sceneries. The story brings into play lots of action, romance and humour. Adults will find some scenes absolutely hilarious, I was in stitches several times, whilst my children sat there with blank faces.
It will be quite some time before this animation becomes out of date and can be watched over and over.
There are also some faces voices behind the characters included sylvester stallone and sharon stone, its interesting to guess which voices are which characters.
Like most children films they all live happily ever after and defeat evil, making this a great classic....
