The original Children of the Corn is one of my all time favourite films and still sends shivers down my back when I remember it. This film was dark and sinister and had enough surprises to make you jump into next week…also I have always rated the first film as having the best soundtrack to enhance the scariness.

Now onto Children of the Corn 6 – Why, Oh Why, Oh Why, is my first question – if they had run ...

What a pile of pants…. it is Saturday night, midnight, and I had siked myself up to watching this film all day. I was in the mood for a good horror, but unfortunately the only horror to be found was the expression on my face at the terribleness of this film.

The original Children of the Corn is one of my all time favourite films and still sends shivers down my back when I remember it. This film was dark and sinister and had enough surprises to make you jump into next week…also I have always rated the first film as having the best soundtrack to enhance the scariness.

Now onto Children of the Corn 6 – Why, Oh Why, Oh Why, is my first question – if they had run out of ideas to carry this film off why on earth did they even attempt to make it.

The plot centres on Hannah Martin, who travels from California to Gatlin to find her birth parents and her heritage. . Basically Hannah is the daughter of previous children of the corn and as is her birthright she must return on her 19th birthday, which happens to be Halloween. After a few close calls, all of which seemed to be her being chased of the road in one way or another, she eventually discovers that her birth mother, Rachel Cosby, passed her baby daughter off as being dead to try and avoid the prophesy coming true and then managed to smuggle her out of Gatlin to welcoming adoptive parents. But silly Hannah, had to come along and poke her nose in and therefore be available for ‘he who walks behind the rows’ to spawn the leader of the new race with her. All the usual clichés seem to apply to this film and I won’t start slating them or else I will give what little is left of the plot away…. but I will just mention the gorgeous Gabriel (love interest and first born of Isaac), and he only gets a mention because of his stunning good looks

Isaac is still being excellently played by John Franklin, and to be honest this is the only merit this film has. He scared the pants off me in the first film, and still managed to send the odd shiver in Children of the Corn 6.

The most noticeable letdown for me was the absolutely bland soundtrack/background music that accompanied this film. Music can often make or break a film and in this case it just helped to make it diabolical.
