This movie is basically a take on The Great Escape but with chickens ! From the outset and seeing ginger's various attemots to escape you instantly fall in love with the film. All the chickens have individual personalities whilst they have a formidable opponent in Mrs Tweedy. The various escape plans are all well executed but end in disaster for the chickens but laughs for the audience. You can really see the time and effort gone into making the film as there's such a lot going on in the background in all the scenes. The time and patience of the animators has payed off. Mel Gibson gives Rocky a great persona and he really adds a lot to the film. Babs the chicken is by far the best chicken, when she fears she is about to go for the chop she faints and then comes out with "my whole life flashed before my eyes-it was very boring !" film is nothing without it's script and like Toy Story this works because it focuses on a decent story. This is a film anybody of any age can enjoy and watch over and over again. Sadly it's a bit too short and just leaves you wanting to see more.

Advantages: SOme funny moments, action towards the end, a lot of effort has gone into making it, films before this one were all good, good animation Disadvantages: Far too many of the same kind of ideas, not eccentric enough, doesn't come up to quality of Wallace and Gromit, too dark, not enough comedy

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
Advantages: funny, good-looking, appeals to everyone Disadvantages: Obviously, don't expect it to be the most amazing, original plot, as it is an animation.
