I don't know if this is THE movie of the last year....but surely is a very solid effort of the director Rob Marschall to bring the broadway musical onto the silver screen. The numbers are colourful and bold and the actors trying to show that they can sing and dance along with the acting...The main problem is that although they are trying ...their final product is mediocre to an expertised eye.Renne Zelweger is good enough playing Roxie...the main character but in many scenes she is over doing it...overacting the role and the numbers. On the other hand Cathrine-Zeta Jones aka Mrs.Douglas is taking the limelight from the protagonist Zelweger all the time with her spirit and her aliveness.Richard Gere is good enough for the male lead role but nothing extraordinary. The movie is a joy to watch and the director has done a hard effort to give something different and fresh. The editing is a little frenzy but still...it's Chicago!Great dance sequences, beautiful songs showing ...that the winner of all this is the creator of the musical...Bob Fosse! Dvd is a good effort for a non-special edition disk although the image has grain spots in a lot of scenes. The sound is very good , in a 5.1 soundtrack with DTS along with DD.More bass and depth you will find in DTS but both still are great with great use of the surround channels.

I loved this, but I don't think I can honestly put my hand on my heart and say it deserved all those oscars!

This is a bit better than your first op, but still not detailed enough to get high ratings. You might find it helpful to make headings for the different aspects of the film and then talk about each one separately. What I mean is - Actors, Acting, Music, Costumes, Dance Numbers, Direction, Script, etc. Take a look at some of the other ops in this category to get a better idea of how to go about this.
