Advantages: Excellent singing Disadvantages: Richard Gere was not at his best!
...The film version of Bob Fosse's musical. Set in 1929 Chicago, the film tells the story of the improbable rise and fall and rise of an ambitious chorus girl.
Cast:
Renée Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Richard Gere
According to the character Roxie, all the world is a stage, and in this movie everyone has their moment in the spotlight using jazz songs to get their message out. Catherine Zeta Jones was excellent in this movie and I honestly did not realise how ell she could sing. Renee Zellwegger played her role very well.
Overall it was a great movie and something I would watch many times over. Definitely worth a watch. I would definitely watch this over and over, but I have to admit, that you cannot beat seeing Chicago at the theatre!...

Advantages: Stunning scenery, stars Henry Fonda, clipped dialogue Disadvantages: Long, lack of dialogue may not appeal to everyone,
...it is with Fonda: with his big, blue eyes and stern but grandfatherly face, you expect him at any minute to give you a reassuring hug before riding off to take care of the villains and save the day. Of course this never happens, and when he laughs or flashes his baby-blue eyes you can see not good but evil in them. Playing the part of Frank, the almost psychopathically evil killer, he is utterly convincing and the emotionless way he murders without batting an eyelid is genuinely shocking and makes compelling viewing.
Charles Bronson is another reason why this film is a must-see in my view. Those acquainted with his "Deathwish" series of films will remember Bronson for his poker face and lack of emotion and this is also evident in Once Upon a Time in the West. Bronson plays the part of "Harmonica", a mysterious harmonica-playing stranger with a long...

Advantages: Stunning performances, great sound, good camera work, timeless songs. Disadvantages: Inevitably some songs didn't make the set. Especially missed Tales of Great Ulyses and I Feel Free
...!
Jack Bruce is also on fabulous form with his vocals, harmonica and bass playing. Ginger Baker plays like only he can. A drummer friend of mine rates this as one of the best drumming performances he's ever seen.
The DVD is a compilation of the best takes from 4 nights at The Albert Hall, London, recorded 2-6 May 2005 and moves along pretty seamlessly with the feel of one show.
Most of what you expect to hear is on the DVD (with the noteable exceptions for me being I Feel Free and Tales of Brave Ulyses) - so you have Sunshine of Your Love, White Room, Badge, Spponful, Born Under a Bad Sign and more. And a fantastic inclusion of Ginger Baker singing Pressed Rat and Warthog.
Anyone that likes Cream on record (or is that CD and MP3 nowadays) will love this double DVD. It is a reminder of what 3 musicians at the height of their collective...
