Ok ok...so just how many demons can there possibly be for one group of sisters to fight?
Charmed is a story based around the lives of three sisters who discover that they are all powerful witches who will for the rest of their lives have to battle demons, witches, warlocks and other mythical creatures.
Shannon Doherty was a lead character in the series until she decided leave to persue other projects (one of the reasons charmed took so long to come onto DVD was because SD had major control of the shows rights) and she was replaced with another sister, who filled the gap quite nicely and with a cleverly prepared storyline (the sister hidden from everyone in case one ever died) the show continued for more successful seasons.
What I love about Charmed is the myriad of storylines, twists and turns and continuity in storylines that is explored. Everyweek the sisters have to battle some demon or bad guy (sometimes girl) who is intent on destroying them and taking over their powers or the world... Alongside this we see the sisters struggling to have 'normal' lives....raising children, holding down jobs or businesses (not easy when demons need to be vanquished!) and falling in and out of love...it is good stuff and easy TV to watch and enjoy.
As the series progressed, the amount of money spent on effects and storylines improved dramatically. Some episodes really stand out in the series also, because of their strong storylines. My favourite is when the witches are given super hero human powers..they look hot in their outfits!
The introduction of a magic school was a bit daft, but it did help us meet more mythical and fable based magical characters.....and if you can cope with Leprechauns speaking with a false Irish accent, you can enjoy all of the episodes!
If you like good tea time TV that is easy to watch, has a weekly familiar plot (attacked, seek the demon, destroy the demon - alongside real life dramas of the domestic nature) then this is a show that you will enjoy.
Good easy TV @ teatime viewing.
Summary: Good while eating your dinner on your lap in front of the TV
