You may be familiar with Charlie's Angels from their TV series from the 70's - big hair, big action and even bigger... missions. Following on from big screen adaptations like The Avengers and Mission: Impossible before it, Charlie's Angels is a brand new, super-stylish silver screen update with plenty of explosions, stylish locations and absurd plotlines. And it is absolutely great.
The three girls in the Charlie's Angels movie are Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore (who also produces the movie) and Ally McBeal star Lucy Liu. Together the three crime-busting ladies must track down stolen technology and bring the culprit to justice, under the supervision of Bill Murray's Bosley and mysterious leader Charlie. The format works extremely well (well, who wouldn't want to watch those three girls for a few hours?) and Director McG never lets the film take itself too seriously. The three girls give great performances, with plenty of tongue-in-cheek humour and in-jokes - the one about TJ Hooker: The Movie is a particular favourite. The girls must track down some technology stolen from computer wizard Eric Knox, which if landed in the wrong hands could mean the end of privacy as we know it.
Director McG, formerly a music video director, has done a great job bringing the Angels to the big screen, each scene is filled with colour and brightness. The film is so enjoyable and so action-packed it really is very hard to take your eyes off of the screen, every scene is an absolute winner whether it is a parody of Mission: Impossible or an ass-kicking fight scene (for which the three girls had to train very hard). It never lets you get bored and keeps you happy for the whole duration, which is a very hard thing to do these days.
Perhaps the most refreshing thing about Charlie's Angels is the way the three girls behave - there is no Girl Power rubbish spouted in this film, the girls are just Independent women who do what they want to do and just happen to do it with lots of high kick and Matrix-style fight sequences. Excellent supporting roles from Tim Curry and Crispin Glover as the creepy Thin Man (you may remember him as George McFly from Back To The Future) give the cast depth and a fantastic soundtrack runs through the film, keeping the action going and the pace frenetic at all times. Charlie's Angels is pure, bubble-gum entertainment and should be credited for never trying to be something it is not.
Charlie's Angels also has some brilliant extra features included on the disc, including numerous featurettes on stunts, wardrobes, the characters, the director - the list just goes on. There are also deleted scenes, bloopers and outtakes, feature commentary and much much more, all presented in stylish animated menus. Charlie's Angels is a complete entertainment package, and should be snapped up immediately.

Another good op, but can I suggest that you only post one or two a day. When you post several in a day, you will get less reads on your ops. If you are typing them offline and then just posting them, maybe you should keep some back to post the following day. Dave.

Advantages: A generally good cast; well choreographed screen action; good variety of music. Disadvantages: Attempts to be too clever for its own good; has no concept of pacing; not all music tracks are suitable.
Advantages: Anything that has Cameron Diaz in it, wet and 'unzipped' to the waist has got to get 5 stars Disadvantages: not sure Lucy Liu was the right casting for the 3rd 'Angel'

Review of Charlie's Angels (DVD)
Advantages: Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz... Disadvantages: The most stupid film ever, even worse than The Avengers, possibly as bad as Batman and Robin
