Make a cynical film, expect a cynical review. Saved from the drudgery of conceiving a concept, the makers of this film have at least continued the tradition of the TV series from which it was spawned in providing mild titilation with dialogue. Quite why anyone needs the token gesture of a plot is a mystery but nevetheless the makers sling one in that is by turns preposteruous, lacking in continuity and of little interest. At the time of the film's release much was made of the renaissance of Bill Murray in this film - well, from where I was sitting it was yet another sleepwalk through the role and collect the cheque performance. So, apart from the obligatory costume changes what do you get? A bit borrowed from the Matrix, nods to John Woo and not an original idea in the house; even the opening has the feel of an idea rejected by the weary Bond franchise. The soundtrack is segmented and feels like an opportunity to shift CDs rather than having any bearing on the film. Interestingly enough I watched this just before catching a few moments of the much-abused Avengers film which even in a few brief moments suggested an intellegence behind the camera totally lacking here. Charlie's Angels comes from the tits and arse school of filmaking - everyone it in makes a tit of themselves and you'll feel an arse for having sat through it.

Not a bad op, but on the same token not exactly a good op. More information on the story and about the film would have gotten a VH. Thanks for the insight though :) cheers Ken

Advantages: Anything that has Cameron Diaz in it, wet and 'unzipped' to the waist has got to get 5 stars Disadvantages: not sure Lucy Liu was the right casting for the 3rd 'Angel'

Review of Charlie's Angels (DVD)
Advantages: Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz... Disadvantages: The most stupid film ever, even worse than The Avengers, possibly as bad as Batman and Robin
