I have watched this film 5 times and I can honestly say that it just gets better every single time I see it. So what that it's a cheesy remake of the cheesy original 70's TV show, that's half of the fun...
Alex played by Lucy Liu, Dylan played by Drew Barrymore and Natalie played by Cameron Diaz, are the millenium recruits to Charlie, an anonamous millionaire, and who together with Bill Murray help fight crime and save the world etc, typical movie style.
What I thought set this film out was that the director did not try to make it seem more serious or realistic than it ever was intended to be. The story line borders on impossible, a revenge seeking evil plotting master mind (almost) who, come hlel or high water, wont have his plans spoiled by 3 women. And of course the obligatory evil faced henchman who slinks in the shadows, however there is an interesting twist involved, or is this also expected?
The girls all have special sections devoted to them, a blossoming romance from natalie mid fight with the evil masterminds henchwoman is extremly amusing and this adds the touch of sillyness that the film and the show both share. That this is never going to happen in real life (the ditzy blond recognizing bird calls over an intercom system to trace a missing person...?) but the film is still highley entertaining.
The stunts and the fight scenes are worthy of the hugest hollywood blockbuster. The choreography of some of the fight scenes, especially the ones near to the end surpass anyones expectations however my favorite has to be when all three girls are together chasing the mean faced bad guy near the beginning. This in my opinion is the finest moment of the film, a wonderful rountine in planning and execution which the camera work only makes better.
The only bad thing is the fairly predictable ending which I suppose is inevitable really, but all in all a film that does not loose its air of impossiblity and novelty when transferred to the big screen.
inal 1970s jiggle show. Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore (who also produced) and Lucy Liu star as the hair-tossing, fashion-setting, kung-fu fighting trio employed by the my...
