The first joke in the film makes fun of TJ Hooker - The Movie with the line "Oh no, not another remale of an old TV show!". Yep - I'm afraid it is.
Charlie's Angels was one of the big films of 2000. Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu star as the Angels and Bill Murray provides some light relief as Bosley.
The story is pretty thin - computer genius is kidnapped, the Angels find him but the specail encoding device he's invented has disappeared. The Angels investigate billionnair business man Tim Curry who happens to be the prime suspect - but when he ends up dead all is not as it seems ...
With tongue firmly in cheek and Matrix style fight scenes the film doesn't appear to know whether to take itself seriously or not. There is plenty of action and the fights are well choreographed but it is hard to know whether this is a comedy or an action movie.
The film just about pulls it off and it is fun, but the antics of the Angels is totally unbelievable. I'm too young to remember the TV series so I can't comment on how it relates to that.
The film is worth watching once - but I can't see a sequel being made as I don't think the public will be fooled twice.

Advantages: Super sexy, mega styling, nice soundtrack... Disadvantages: No story, bad acting, cheesy gags, ridiculous action, tacky product placement, a character coming back from the dead and pathetic baddies. Oh well, the TV series was rubbish too.......

Review of Charlie's Angels (DVD)
Advantages: drew and cameron nearly flashing their boobs about, nice lighweight, pacy lark Disadvantages: not much here for anyone wanting brain fodder
Advantages: Anything that has Cameron Diaz in it, wet and 'unzipped' to the waist has got to get 5 stars Disadvantages: not sure Lucy Liu was the right casting for the 3rd 'Angel'

Review of Charlie's Angels (DVD)
Advantages: Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz... Disadvantages: The most stupid film ever, even worse than The Avengers, possibly as bad as Batman and Robin
