As i am due to get married i thought what a better time to get motivated and lose some flab. I hate the gym and i cant motivate myself to go or pay there increasing costs so i decided to buy a dvd i could do in the comfort of my living room.
I decided to but Charlie Brooks as i had looked at others and it seemed more my cup of tea. I like to dance and the iamge on the front really caught my eye. Damn she looks good now! I couldnt help but feel a pang of jelousy but i have to admit it made me want to buy it.
Ok so onto the dvd itself. The menu gives you the option of playing the workout in full or you can choose chapters to work out to. I started off with the whole thing and just watched it to see what the content was like. The music was okay, the moves seemed easy enough and the setting was good also.
The dance studio looks like a contemporary flat with a funky mirror and furniture. So it feels like they are at home doing the workout, which is the whole point of a fitness dvd ( to workout at home).
As i became more experienced with the dvd i would choose which chapter i would work out to as after a few days it gets a bit repetitive doing the same thing over and over. So i would chop and change the order of the workout to suit my mood and if i was struck for time i would pick which one i wanted to do.
The Warm Up
Starts off nice and simple, the music is chilled and modern.Dee Thresher ( The trainer) is relaxed and so is charlie. She explains how to do the moves with ease and chats to charlie as though they are good friends. The warm up is combined of a bit of disco moves and some salsa moves as well. It is fun relaxed and while your thinking and getting the moves right you will be burning calories and not knowing it.
Disco
Not my favourite but it includes moves we saw in the warm up and again while you are concentrating you dont realise your burning fat. Its fun and the more effort you put in the more you lose. If you allow yourself to have some fun with it you might find it your favourite. I usually like to do this one if i am stuck for time as it gets the blood pumping and sets you up for the day without too much hard work involved.
Combat
I like this one for after a hard day at work. Using punches and kicks to take out my stress is great with this workout. Combining fast punches to get the heart racing then slowing it down with slow punches to get your breath back really helps you go all the way with this workout. It also is a simple routine but it is hard work. The music gets you going and is funky again.
High Intensity
One word for this OUCH! This one is hard. With moves like the SUMO where you have to jump forward into a croutch position you will have thighs like a super model if you do this evereyday. I have to admit i find it hard to do this once a week let alone everyday. But it does work. U certainly feel the pain afterwards.The music again is very modern and appropriate to work out to.
Cool Down
Nice and relaxed and uses a pilates feel to tone up your stomach muscles. Its great for wobbly tums and i noticed a difference after 2weeks of doing these. It also realxes you after a hard work out especially the High Intensity. Its a lot of floor work so u need some space to lie down wherever you are doing this dvd.
Conclusions
I certainly reccomend buying this dvd although the trainer can a little annoying after a while and you do pick up on some bad mistakes that are quite funny once spotted. The music also becomes a little tiresome after a while. This workout does work though as i have lost 2 inches from my waist area in a month.
I do have to say though if you are doing it everyday it can become repetitive and could be worth investing in an extra dvd to switch with so you dont wnd up bored.
Overall great value for money.
I bought mine off of ebay for 6.99 and can now be picked up in asda or other similar supermarkets for around 8.99.
