...Unforgiven. For some mysterious reason Charley Varrick was overlooked and was not a great box office hit at the time, unlike Siegel's previous, highly successful thriller, Dirty Harry. If anything I regard Charley Varrick as being the superior thriller, and seems to age better over the years, being a smarter and more subtle film in its approach, and just as entertaining.

Charley Varrick stars the late Walter Matthau (the ... ...then I've seen Charley Varrick several times over the years on TV, although it rarely gets shown now, and I've never been bored by revisiting it, It makes me really appreciate how decent a stylish thriller can be when you have well-cast actors, a strong storyline and sufficient tension.
