...The idea of updating Romeo and Juliet was inspired. This twentieth-century American setting is the world of Latin American teenagers and gang warfare. Caught on one side of the divide is Maria, and caught on the other is Tony. Their love story and its ending is inevitable, but no less powerful for the lack of surprise, and the standard of acting is excellent. However, this is, above all, a musical. Leonard Bernstein wrote possibly the best ever score for a musical for this, with amazing lyrics, memorable tunes, and gorgeous orchestral backing. You know many of them already - if only from the GAP adverts on TV. Which brings me to the choreography. It's snappy, stunning and very, very cool. The film looks great and sounds even better. Even if the lovers' universe is spinning irrevocably towards a very dark closing....

.... You'll notice that he wasn't secretly married, he didn't meet a french princess and she sure as hell didn't get pregnant by him. That's about as far as my historical knowledge goes anyway, other than I once read that they didn't actually paint their faces for warfare in those days either, but that would have obviously ruined a lot of great merchandise in 1995.
The film itself is long, gory and actually pretty enjoyable if you can put aside the historical inaccuracies. It's got a good strong storyline, Gibson's accent is not bad as I've heard worse and he certainly put his heart, soul and a lot of money into the movie so it can't be that bad. The battle scenes are tremendous and brilliantly coreographed, not for the squeamish though. The set as well is well thought out and as skanky as you'd expect 13th century Scotland and England...

Advantages: Good Film, Good Story And Huge Battles Disadvantages: Lack of Action Only like one Huge Battle
...getting a fever from his wounds. Soon after Bilian has more trouble when at sea with ended with his ship-wrecked. Months later he finally arrives at jerusalem and gain his father title (Baran of Ibelin. Meanwhile Arabs were planing to attack the holy city with an army of 200,000 to claim back their city from the christians.
Finally all diplomacy goes out the window, War breaks out and Balian finds himself fighting to save the city with just his knight and the people of Jerusalem againest the mighty arab army of 200,000 strong . Huge battle lots of people dieing and it all ends with the dipomacy coming in, make a deal lol and they all live happy ever after lol
