We all know the situation about cats and dogs, they don’t like each other. If a dog sees a cat its natural reaction is to chase it. Well this film looks at the relationship the two animals have between them. It is a battle of wits and the prize being control of the world. Well that’s what the cats want anyway, the dogs just want to stay mans best friend. All apart from Butch that is who doesn’t want to get friendly with the humans.

It begins with the family dog chasing a cat around the streets, through someone’s house totally trashing it. Then the cat pretends to be dead in the middle of the roads placed on top of some tyre tracks. The dog even though he hates this cat doesn’t want to see him hurt goes over to see if he is alright. Then a van comes up the street and captures him. This gets around the street like wild fire and it turns out the dog was a secret agent.

Why would a cat want to take a dog you may well ask. He was protecting a formula that his owner was created to stop people from being allergic to dogs. The cats want to stop this, steal the formula and reverse it so that everyone will become allergic to them and have cats instead. It all went back to the days of ancient Egypt where cats would rule over the humans and treat them like dirt. The dogs over threw them becoming mans best friend with the humans in charge. The cats wanted it to be just like that again.

Lou became the new dog then, this little puppy was supposed to come from the secret agent training academy but there was some mix up. So Butch and the other dogs had to give him some tips and just hope that he got carry out the job of protecting the formula. There are lots of problems along the way and then he starts to become close to the little boy he lives with. When a kitten is bought he really does have his work cut out and is made to look very naughty. The cat coughs up a fireball, which opens up to be dog poo, and Lou gets the blame. This cat attacks him with knives and spike balls, as he is a ninja cat who is trying to steal the formula for his boss.

Lou – he is the puppy who was bought by the family to replace the stolen dog. He wants to see the world and have loads of adventures. That changed towards the end when he turned down the chance of staying a secret agent for family life. He was a playful pup who risked everything for his family and was very excited about being an agent.

Butch – he is in charge of the local agents and devotes everything to the cause. He doesn’t want to join a family as his owner neglected him when he got older and moved away. After spending his life with him he soon felt neglected and has never trusted any humans since. His computer is in a kennel which opens up to be a load of screens and keyboards everywhere and can link up to anything from there. It is a bit like the Andrex advert when the puppies are sent on a mission and everything in the kennel changes to a secret agent place.

Mr Tinkles - he is in charge of all the cats and wants to rule the world. To the outside world he look like a cute cat with his long white fur. His owner who is a maid in this big castle treats him like he was a little baby. She knits dresses for him and keeps bathing him, which he hates. At the end he has to put up with all her friends making outfits to and he is left dismayed by it all. When he talks to her one day she is left speechless at the fact he is talking and the abuse he is giving her. There is an old man sick in the house, who owns the factory he wants to use for his formula reversal so he sets off with him in the car and the other cats driving the car. Then proceed to fool everyone with him doing the talking and of course getting in that cats rule. I think Lou had something to say about that.

Overall this film that is a PG is a great treat for all the family. It is funny and cute with all the animals. I am terrible when it comes to films with animals in them. The only draw back I have to this film is that the original dog didn’t appear in the end. I know I may be soft but I was hoping he would appear home at the end and they would all live together happily every after. Regardless of that it is a great film which will appeal to all ages.

I felt sure I would really like this film but was disappointed when I finally saw it. Not as good as I would have hoped. Nice op though. Rich
